Defensive Technologies Series 7 Flechette Cannon has been
taken to the next step in evolution with the production
of the Mk3 "Negotiator." The ionized flechettes
are capable of delivering second- and third-degree burns
to organic tissue and cauterizing the wound instantly.
Payload delivery is achieved via one of two methods: ionized
flechettes launched in a spread pattern directly from
the barrel; or via fragmentation grenades that explode
on impact, radiating flechettes in all directions.

The Flak Cannon is one of the better weapons available. Up
close, it can be very dangerous against unarmored foes, and
it’s secondary fire is great for distance.
The primary fire consists of several balls of “flechettes”
that fly forth from the gun. Like a buckshot shotgun, the
flechettes come out packed nice and tight, but spread out
the further they travel, making them next to useless against
far away opponents. For people who are right next to you,
it can kill unarmored enemies with two or three well placed
shots. Because of the spread, even an indirect shot as a chance
of hitting your opponent.
The alternate mode fires a “grenade” of flechette,
which is much better suited to targets farther away. It can
damage nearby enemies, but the primary fire mode is better
for that. The grenade travels in a short arc, and will explode
on contact; doesn’t matter if it’s a wall, floor,
vehicle or enemy. If the grenade connects with the enemy directly,
they can be killed in one or two shots. Even if the grenade
misses, the splash damage will be enough to damage your enemy.
A good use for the Flak Cannon is to fire at enemies who
are unaware of you, but also out of reach. If you see an enemy
who is inside a turret, fire the grenade at the base of the
gunner, damaging both the turret and player. Chances are the
player will look around for you, but if you are crouched,
you can stay out of sight of the turret.
