Emitting a solid state laser
for the Phoenix Bomber to target, the single-shot Target
Painter allows the autonomous dropping of a massive payload
of conventional ordinance on a general area. After holding
and locking the targeting beam on a specified ground point,
the Phoenix will call in and commence surface bombardment.

Like the Ion Painter, the Target Painter isn’t a weapon
per se, but it can be beyond devastating.
Using the primary firing mode, you bring up a laser beam
to paint a target. Just like the Ion Painter, you must hold
the target for a few seconds to get a lock. When you do, a
Phoenix (not flyable by players) will come in from somewhere
off the map and will drop several bombs. Whenever you hear
“Air strike” by the announcer, this will soon
be happening. Do not rely on this, because if someone sees
the Phoenix, they can shoot it down with the AVRiL, and it
takes only one shot.
The secondary button brings up a scope, allowing you to stay
at a distance, relatively safe, and still paint your target.
