Deriving
technology from Izanagi Corporation's Micro-spy military
line, the minelayer is a deadly combination of cutting-edge
high explosives, A.I., and robotics. Carrying thermite
encased within it's fragmenting Duranium shell these drones
will sit quietly until a vehicle is within range, then
charge and detonate on contact. If an on-foot enemy is
within range, the mines will chase them down and leap
onto them, detonating. Alt-fire activates a guidance laser
from the Minelayer itself, causing all launched drones
to flock toward the painted point. Although each clip
can only hold four drones, the minelayer is deadly for
both infantry and vehicles alike.

The Mine Layer is best used as a defensive weapon, as the
mines it produces can be used to guard flags, nodes, or Assault
objectives. The mines are smart, and they know only to attack
enemies and not teammates.
The primary mode will drop a spider mine on the ground. The
mine sits until an enemy or enemy vehicle approaches it, at
which point it will start following the enemy until coming
into contact with them and detonating.
The secondary mode brings up a laser which can be used to
guide the mines. Aim the gun at a target, paint it with the
laser, and fire a mine. The spider will automatically run
toward the target, and detonate when it gets there. You can
move the laser wherever you want, and you can guide the spider
even if you’ve told it to go somewhere else.
A very fun and very destructive tactic to use requires both
the Mine Layer and Grenade Launcher. Place a spider mine on
the ground, and then fire a grenade on top of the spider mine.
Because grenades are “sticky”, it will attach
itself to the mine, and whenever the mine moves, the grenade
will go with it. When the mine finds a target and detonates,
the grenade is detonated with it, causing twice the damage.
If you die before the mine finds a target, then your grenade
will explode, taking the mine with it.
