Lightweight
and diminutive, the Manta is a fearsome sight in battle. Created
for marsh and swamp warfare, the Manta has proven itself over
all types of terrain. The Manta combines a small overall target
area and superior ground- speed to bring a lethal mix of strengths
to the battlefield. Constructed almost exclusively from laminated
Alumex polymer, the Manta's agility is unmatched by any other
craft. The Manta floats on a cushion of air provided by twin
Magneto-impelled props. The tri-blades can be instantly pitched,
allowing the pilot to leap two stories into the air to avoid
enemies or obstacles. The Manta brings its two multi-stage
plasma casters very quickly to enemy territory. Manta pilots
must be wary of enemy fire, and outright attacks against heavier
vehicles in close quarters rarely succeed.

While the Manta is considering a flying vehicle, it really
doesn’t fly, it just hovers above the ground. It has
exceptional speed, but low armor. Two shots from an AVRiL
will destroy it. It has one spot on each side of the driver,
giving it the ability to transport two teammates.
The Manta is best used as a hit and run vehicle. With it’s
superior speed, you can go somewhere, pelt the area with it’s
plasma gun, then get away, and do it again. The Manta has
two special controls. By pressing the jump button, you can
give the Manta a quick boost, which will launch it into the
air for a few seconds. This is useful to get over a barrier,
or to get above an incoming missile. The second special move
is a squash. By pressing the alternate fire key, you can smash
close to the ground, clipping off the head of any unfortunate
enemy you target.
The Manta is very useful against a Goliath without a gunner.
The cannon takes some time to change positions, and it reloads
slowly, so the Manta pilot can strafe circle around the Goliath,
pelting it until it’s destroyed, or until the driver
jumps out.
