WALKTHROUGH
- THE TEMPLE OF HELIOS
The narrator (well, Gaia) will speak at the end of
the bridge as a slight
cutscene triggers.
A siren and a few undead soldiers will attack following
the cutscene. Use Plumes of Prometheus on multiple enemies
and perform a Demon
Fury with The Efreet if the enemies pile up. The gorgon
can make this battle a
little deadly depending on the current difficulty.
These mountain trails have rock pieces (stalagmites)
that can be broken for
extra red orbs so be sure to look out for them. Continue
across the bridge up
ahead that leads to the statue head then move across
the next mountain trail.
Find the rough wall at the end of the next mountain
trail and climb it.
Climb
all the way to the top and pull up. You may be tempted
to investigate the area
up the stairs
but there is nothing there. That is actually the exit
to the
temple - you'll be seeing it again later. Scale the
next rough wall then move
to the left while climbing. Hold to the left then hop
across the gap in the
wall
by pressing the jump button and Kratos will automatically
grab onto the
next section of rough wall across from the current one.
Climb the rest of the
way up
and a cutscene will play.
There is no need to run up the stairs to the left right
now and follow that
path since a gate blocks the path on the other side.
Break all the pots around
the area then find the doorway up ahead. Run to the
left side of the wall
around the side of the doorway and open the hidden --RED
CHEST-- by the water.
THE TEMPLE OF HELIOS
Run into the building up ahead then open the --GREEN
CHEST-- if needed and save
your game at the --SAVE PILLAR--. Stand on the lift
then pull the switch to
take the lift upwards.
As a shimmering door is showcased up ahead, Satyr
enemies will spawn and begin to throw fire bombs.
These enemies like to stand back and toss fire bombs
while they are in the
area. Run up to them and perform a Plume of Prometheus
or grab them. Much
like any grab, grabbing them will give Kratos the advantage
of invincibility
from any other satyrs that might be in the area during
the grab animation. The
fire bombs cannot be guarded against and must be dodged
by moving out of the
way of the flames or rolling away from them. Grabbing
helps out a bunch while
fighting these enemies.
|
|
|
|
Defeat the two fire satyrs that attack. Grab them to
death or use a Plume of
Prometheus against them. Run to the right near the back
of this area
to find a
broken ledge with an --UNMARKED CHEST (PHOENIX FEATHER
[6/19])--. Nothing can
be done with the door up ahead yet since that annoying
little fire satyr behind
the left gate will toss a fire bomb a Kratos every time
that he tries to tear
down the door. Run down the set of stairs on the left
in the back of this area
to continue.
A different type of satyr will appear down this path.
These enemies fight much like undead soldiers but their
attacks are sometimes
longer. They are just as aggressive too! Pay attention
to when their katars
(bladed hand weapons) light up green and this will signal
when they are about
to attack. Block at that time to avoid the full slash
attack. Grab them and
try to get all of them on one side if you are fighting
a group then use Plumes
of Prometheus to keep them grounded. A lot of times
a full Plume is rather
hard to get out since these enemies attack so aggressively,
so use jumping Triangle
attacks and grabs if you must, but try to get them all
on the same side. They
can be deadly when they surround Kratos. They sometimes
stand around and
attack in a sequence - one right after the other.
Fight off the soldier satyrs with jumping Triangle attacks, grabs, and Plumes of
Prometheus. Try not to let them surround Kratos and
grab them to try to
position them on one side while Kratos attacks them.
Keep in mind that all
satyr enemies release magic so you can use the Demon
Fury if they every start
to crowd Kratos too much.
Further ahead is a --BLUE/GREEN CHEST--. Pull the switch
at the end of the
path
and this will open the door across from Kratos. It opens
the door at the
beginning of this temple area, so run all the way back
to the lift then use the
switch to make it descend. Run out of the building then
move up the stairs on
the left.
The exits will seal off and a group of satyr soldiers
will attack. Fire satyrs
will begin to appear toward the end of the battle. Don't
be afraid to use
Demon Fury if the soldiers ever start to get overwhelming.
Run past the gate
ahead after the battle then use the --BLUE/GREEN CHEST-- if needed. Turn to
the right near the chest then finish off that annoying
fire satyr that wouldn't
allow Kratos access to the temple door earlier. Pull
the switch to the side of
him to open the gate at the end of the path that will
lead Kratos back out to
the area in front of the temple door.
|
|
|
|
Stand in front of the temple door then press the Circle button to make Kratos latch
onto it with his Chaos Blades and pry the door open.
Enter the building then
turn to the left and break all the pots along the sides
of the hallway while
following it around the corner. After the turn to the
right, open the --RED
CHEST-- on the right side of the hall. The statue at
the far end of the hall
can be destroyed for some extra red orbs.
Run up the stairs to the left in the room that Kratos
comes to
and open the --
RED CHEST-- against the left wall. A new enemy will
spawn into the room
eventually.
These flying bird-like enemies fall very quickly to
just about any attack, but
they can be deadly in groups. The best way to get rid
of these is to grab all
of them. A grab is an instant kill and this will shield
Kratos from the rest
of the surrounding harpling's attacks. An air Rage of
Tartarus works extremely
well for groups also, nearly taking a whole group down
with one ground pound.
These Harplings can be taken down extremely easy by
simply grabbing them all.
Kratos will throw one to the ground and stomp it allowing
him invincibility
from the rest of group's attacks. Rage or Tartarus works
well also, but you
likely don't have that attack yet with the Blades of
Chaos.
Find both statues with the handles on the sides of
them
along the right and
left side of this current room then pull them out from
the wall. Pull each of
the switches behind each statue to open both gates on
the right wall.
You might want to save your game at the save pillar
through the left door.
Move through the right doorway. A new enemy will attack
as the exit seals off
in the room behind the right doorway.
These are the first of the many enemies that cannot
be grabbed until they are
weakened - they can only be grabbed while in the air
(when Kratos knocks them
into the air) or while near death. Fire guards are very
aggressive. Their
attacks can all be blocked but their jumping overhead
attack will stagger
Kratos and leave him open to quick attacks that follow
(it doesn't take off any
life). This may not seem like that big of a deal while
fighting one but while
fighting a group of these, one can break your attack
while the others are free
to hit if they attack at that time. They have some very
long combos, so be
ready to block all the slashes. It might pay you to
roll from their overhead
attack. Hit them with a jumping Triangle attack to knock
them off balance then
follow up that attack up with Square attacks, Plumes,
or a grab while they are in
the air. A Rage of Tartarus will instantly floor them
also.
|
|
|
|
The first fire guard isn't too bad. Use Triangle attacks
to knock him down then
bounce him around the room with Square attacks. Once
the first fire guard falls,
two more will spawn. Use Triangle attacks to knock them
down then follow that up
with Plumes or grabs while they are in the air. Be sure
to dodge their long
combination of attacks and be careful while blocking
they're overhead attack -
it doesn't take any life by itself but it will leave
Kratos open to follow-up
attacks.
Use the --GREEN CHEST-- near the right wall after the
battle if needed. Break
all the objects around the room after the battle then
pull the switch in the
back where the fire guards spawned.
This will open the big door in the room on
the left. Run back out of the current room and move
through the doorway on the
other side.
Break all the stone statues along the walls of the
room past the left doorway
then save your game at the --SAVE PILLAR--. On the right
side of the room,
open the --UNMARKED CHEST-- for some extra red orbs
and blue orbs then go
through the next doorway.
Break the pots on both sides of the walkway behind
the doorway then run down
either staircase. Look off the side next to the lift
at the bottom to spot an
--UNMARKED CHEST (PHOENIX FEATHER [7/19])-- on one side
and a --RED CHEST-- right next to another --RED CHEST-- on the other side.
Step onto the circular lift at the bottom of the stairs.
Attack the shiny
locks on both of the pillars around the lift to break
them and make the lift
lower.
Fire guards will appear as the lift begins to descend.
Use jumping Triangle attacks to knock them to the ground and try to get them
all on one side then
Plume them. This battle can be a little tough on higher
difficulties - you'll
want to spend most of your time in the air while attacking
with Triangle on a high
difficulty. After the battle with the fire guards, a
new enemy will appear.
|
|
These ghost-like enemies come equipped with a shield
and they will block every
one of your hits with that shield until it is destroyed,
so Kratos must first
remove their shield in order to damage them. Use a Plume
of Prometheus to
instantly destroy its shield then attack it with more
Plumes. All of the
knight's sword swings can be guarded against except
for its counter attack once
Kratos hits its shield enough times.
You'll need to roll away from the counter
attack. Be sure to block whenever it begins to swing
its sword.
Use Plumes of Prometheus to destroy the knight wraith's
shield then attack it
with Plumes of Prometheus once again. It's easy to get
involved in attacks and
fail to guard so don't get too happy with the Plumes.
Step off the lift and open the --RED CHEST-- and the
other --RED CHEST-- on the
left then run over and open the --RED CHEST-- next to
the --BLUE/GREEN CHEST-- on the right. Break all the pots around the area then
move up either
staircase.
By now Kratos should have enough red orbs to upgrade
the Blade of Chaos to
level 3, so go ahead and do so. The Efreet will work
just fine at level 1 for
the moment.
Enter the next room on the top walkway. A cutscene
will play and then the door
behind Kratos will close. Kratos will enter a room with
a glowing light that
resonates from a pit in the middle of the room. Run
to the right and break the
statue at that end then run down the left side and open
the --RED CHEST-- and
other --RED CHEST-- at that end.
Find the shiny cracked pillar to the right of the red
chest (its near a mound
of rubble)
and press the Circle button while standing near it to make
Kratos push it
over. The cracked pillar will make a bridge across to
the middle section. Hop
onto the fallen pillar then move across it. A cutscene
will trigger on the
other side.
Look for the shiny spot on the floor of the circular
platform that Kratos now
stands on and approach it until you get a Circle button icon.
Tap the Circle button to
make Kratos latch onto the pillar across from him and
pull it down with the
Blades of Chaos. Run across the pillar bridge then move
down the right walkway
and open the --RED CHEST-- and the --UNMARKED CHEST
(GORGON EYE [5/21])--.
Walk through the next doorway and enter the hall up
ahead. A cutscene will
trigger as the door behind Kratos closes again. Run
toward the throne up ahead
with the glowing object on it.
Attack the throne enough to destroy it and the
object will float down. Walk toward the shiny object
and collect the ++SUN
SHIELD++.
This shield will allow Kratos to deflect enemy attacks.
Tap the L button as
soon as an enemy attacks to deflect the attack. Fire
guards will appear after
collecting the sun shield. You can use this chance to
try to deflect their
overhead attack - it will stun them for a few seconds
allowing Kratos to
attack. Finish off all three of them.
The camera will show the door in the middle of the
room but ignore this for
now. Run toward the opening on the right then find the
--RED CHEST-- behind
the rubble on that side.
There is also a statue on both sides that may be
broken for red orbs. Move up either staircase on the
sides of the room then
walk through the doorway onto the second floor walkway.
Open the --RED CHEST-- and --UNMARKED CHEST (GORGON EYE [6/21])-- on the left
and the --RED CHEST-- on
the right. Be sure to break both of the statues at the
top as well for some
red orbs. Return to the bottom room.
Run up to the door with the shiny middle portion and
press the Circle button near it
to make Kratos place the sun shield into the glowing
middle section and this
will open the door.
Run into the next room and open the --GREEN CHEST-- and --BLUE CHEST-- on the
right side if needed then save your game at the --SAVE
PILLAR--. Run up the
spiral staircase and a cutscene will trigger at the
very top.
Move up the staircase next to Kratos after the cutscene.
Undead archers will
shoot Kratos from a distance and an undead tiger will
attack once Kratos moves
toward the archers. Run up and grab each archer then
use Plumes on the undead
tiger. It is best to Plume him once then stand back
and get ready to dodge his
attack. Both of his attacks can be deflected with the
sun shield, which will
stagger him and allow Kratos to get yet another Plume
on him. A total of two
undead tigers will attack then archers will spawn throughout
the battle.
Always take care of the archers first. Don't be afraid
to use Demon Fury here
with The Efreet since the undead tiger will release
blue orbs once it has been
defeated.
The middle circular portion of the walkway will glow
after the battle. Walk up
to the glowing section and move around it until a Circle button icon appears then
press the Circle button near it to use the sun shield on
the glowing portion of the
platform.
Using the sun shield will make the platform around Kratos
lower.
Fall down the steps then move down the staircase at
the bottom.
A door with a glowing middle section will block the
room at the bottom so walk
up to it and interact with it to place the sun shield
on the door to open it.
A cutscene will show the door close behind Kratos. Break
the pots on the right
and left side of the room then open the --RED CHEST-- on the left side of the
room next to the far wall.
|
|
|
|
Notice how each statue points toward a glowing square
against the far wall.
Grab the handle on the back end of each statue and push
them toward the glowing
square across from them until they lock in place and
lower.
A shiny handle
will appear under the goddess face on the middle wall.
Walk over to the handle
and use it to pull the entire wall out and it will make
steps that lead upward.
Quickly hop up the steps as they retract then use the
sun shield on the glowing
section of the door at the top.
The door will open to reveal a --RED CHEST-- next to another --RED CHEST--. You can also wait and
grab these two chests
later since you'll be returning to this area - you're
call. Open both of them
then hop back down to the bottom.
This is a tricky part here since the camera angle hides
the area that Kratos is
supposed to go to. Pull the wall out once again then
run around the left side
of the wall to see a hidden alcove along the side of
the wall that retracts.
Quickly run into the alcove to get to the room behind
the wall.
Break the pots
around the room then run around to the back right portion
of the wall and open
the --UNMARKED CHEST (PHOENIX FEATHER [8/19])--.
Both statues in this area shine the light from the
other statues but that light
needs to be shined on the wall with the two sun insignias
above the back middle
platform. Grab each statue and pull it back as far as
it will go to shine the
light on the two sun insignias above the back middle
platform.
Jump onto the ring of light that appears on the back
middle platform once the
statues are in place. The camera will change to show
another sun insignia on
the back wall. Face the sun insignia on the back wall
then use the sun shield
(tap L) while facing it to reflect the light onto that
sun insignia then tap
the Circle button when prompted.
The middle wall will extend back outward and allow
Kratos back through the
small alcove in the wall. Run back into the next room
then hop up the
platforms. Use the sun shield on the glowing piece below
the horse statue and
a cutscene will play in which a light rein will attach
to one of the outside
horse statues.
Now Kratos needs to find two more horse statues such
as this to
shine two more light reins back outside the temple.
Fall down the platforms that lower across from the
horse statue (in the back of
the room). Follow the hall and open the --GREEN CHEST-- if needed then follow
the hall all the way to the end. A cutscene will play
as a voice calls out to
Kratos and the camera will show a portal on the left
side of the walkway. That
voice is just trying to lead Kratos away from the --UNMARKED
CHEST (GORGON EYE
[7/21])-- next to the statue to the right though.
How dare she!? After
opening the chest, run over to the portal on the left
side of the walkway and
step through it.
