gasper, I confirm that the situation you mentioned occurs under Windows 7 and probably Vista. It is mighty strange, since the save is read correctly (even version 2.64), the values are also changed (when debugging), but they somehow aren't copied to the output stream. I will investigate it thoroughly because I have no idea what causes such behaviour. Meanwhile if you have Windows XP installed somewhere, you can try it there. I had no problem on XP.
EDIT: Well, it appears the problem was quite easy to solve. It seems that Vista and 7 handle file streams in somewhat different manner than XP. Apparently the data isn't written to disk the instant the stream calls the Write method. So if the file is recompressed before the stream actually writes the data inside it, the changes are not saved, obviously. To all programmers out there: always flush the stream after you write data to it. [Streams are like toilets, actually: used it - flush it. ]

Hi Karach0s,
thank you for the great job. Now the editor is working well even with Vista.
But one achievement is missing for Ice & Blood:
The Dragonmage is reaching Level 15

Well, gasper, I thought something like that could happen. I have a question for you: did the number of maximum points to gain from achievements increase because of it? Or is it still the same (1000) meaning that some other achievements got their points decreased? I will add the dragonmage achievement as soon as I get my hands on the expansion. Or if you could provide a chest file with, say, only the dragonmage achievement gained I could look into it. Did the chest file you uploaded earlier had the dragonmage achievement gained?
jimbouk, thanks for the sources. I will try to look into them soon.
Thanks, AndyMutz. I believe I saw the way to increase XP somewhere here: Link. You can find many usefull hints on how to edit your balance.txt files to change various aspects of the game.

Hi Karach0s,
i have uploaded a new chest file only with 2 gained achievements
My Dragonmage reached Level 5 + 15 (One hero reached level 5 achievement) and the Dragonmage reached level 15 achievement

I don't know if more than 1000 points can be gained with normal gameplay. Within a earlier game I edited the achievements with your editor to get all achievements. Then with the dragonmage achievement I got +20 points so that I got 1020 points finally.

gasper, thanks to you here is the special "what about my dragonmage?!" release of the editor. [I hope I've chosen the correct bit for the DM achievement, though the probability of error is relatively small. ] As I don't have the achievement icon for the dragonmage, I put it as a small dragonmage character icon in the lower left corner of the achevements page. To all other-than-German players, you probably won't destroy your savegame even if you set the dragonmage achievement for a non expansion game. But I haven't tested that yet.

Have fun cheating.
Oh, and one more thing. If you could gain 1020 points ingame with the DM achievement, gasper, than it means it is possible. The editor doesn't touch the points from achievements, simply because such data isn't even in savefiles. The editor only sets achievement bits to 1 or 0 and from that the game counts total points from achievements. But nevertheless it was a valuable piece of information, so thanks go to you, gasper.
