Downloaded the updated version today and having issues. Pressing F1 to activate closes both the game and the trainer. Doesn't seem to matter if I run with the game mods on or all off. I already do the usual stuff like run as admin, AV off, alt-tabbing to activate.
Never had that kind of issue before with any trainer, this happening to anyone else?
Does 'the usual stuff' include having exclusions set up for the trainer exe file and the - Work - folder here -> C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Cheathappens\ and keep your security software enabled?
Which security software and Windows OS version do you use?
It does yes, it's BitDefender I have on the latest version of Windows 10. I have the applicable folder in question on an exclusion list, on top of where I store all my CH files.
I've also tried with it turned off and get the same results. I've tried other trainers such as X-Com2, Metro, and Witcher 3. All are working normally when BitDefender is either on and off. Previous version of the Stellaris trainer activates, but obviously a lot of it doesn't affect anything in the game now.
Please make sure to have the exclusions I mentioned set up in Bitdefender. Also, since Bitdefender 2018, you have to temporarily disable the - Advanced Threat Defense - module completely prior to run and while you use our trainers.
This is mandatory for all our current trainers marked as 'Trainer Manager Compatible', which use the - Work - folder as a temporary file save location.

Cracked it now, it was the new "Advanced Threat Defense" feature that was causing the crashes. Disabling it to activate the trainer seems to have got it working now.
Thanks a lot for the quickfire and effective suggestions, very much appreciated! 🙂
