I'd prefer to add an amount of Energy, Minerals or Influence (Adjusted as required by the trainer). Rather than infinite. I like a little boost at the start, not a complete avoidance of the game mechanic.

what exactly would the trainer do that the built-in console commands wont let you do?

Doesn't the console effect the achievements? I just assumed it would.

Play how we want to without also loosing achievements? Or having to type every little thing out. Also a big one would be points when creating your own race.

using the console commands disables achievements so a trainer would hopefully allow you continue playing with achievements enabled
