WALKTHROUGH - JAPAN
"I haven't seen Takamoto in a long time. I doubt
he misses me after our last meeting. If he still has the artifact,
however, he'll lose more than face Sunday night."
Lara cannot run or use any of her equipment for the moment
- this is a party after all.
Walk down the stairs and walk to the back of the room, over
to the left, and talk to the bartender
(action button). He will tell you that Nishimura is in his
office down the hall. Walk down the hall across from the bar.
Open the door
and enter the room for a cutscene. After the cutscene, walk
back down the hall for another cutscene.
Well, time to throw off the party gear and get down to business.
Immediately following the cutscenes,
start firing on Takamoto's guards.
Pick up the assault rifle from the first guard use it on the
other guards. More guards will enter the room from the hall
next to the bar. When Nishimura gives Lara the card for the
elevator, walk down the hall next to the bar and enter the
elevator
to ride up to the roof.
Walk toward the glass ahead and Lara will notice a motorcycle
in the background. Head to the left and go through the sliding
door
out onto the roof.

Walk around the side to find an explosive barrel surrounded
by a gate. On the other side of the gate is a pole just begging
to be climbed. Lock on and shoot the barrel then climb the
pole. Jump to the platform to the right and hop on top of
the roof above. Don't mess with the glass roof
just yet. Hop up to the segment of the roof above the glass
roof and shoot the crate to find a . Now hop back down and use your grappling
hook to pull the shiny part of the glass roof back so you
can get inside. Run down the ramps to enter the area with
the motorcycle.

To the left of the motorcycle shoot the small crate behind
the cardboard box to find a then look to the right of the motorcycle and
move one of the cardboard boxes in the pile. Shoot the small
crate behind them to reveal a . Walk up to the motorcycle and press the action
button to get on. The controls have not changed at all, but
you can move more freely this time. Drive out through the
door to the side then go through the sliding door out onto
the roof.

Accelerate toward the ramp
on the other side of the roof and jump toward the building
ahead. A Quick Time Event cutscene
will begin.
Lara will attempt a jump with the motorcycle and [GRAPPLE]
grapple to a pole above as the motorcycle flies toward a group
of gas canisters, nearly setting them off. Lara swings on
the grapple and [JUMP] jumps to the area ahead of her. She
notices the gas tanks in the back are about to explode so
she [CROUCH] dives out of the way and grabs the railing on
the side.

Fall to the area below
from where you start after the cutscene. Run straight ahead
and jump over the gap in the framework. Shoot the small crate
at the end
to find a .
Go back to where you were by jumping over the gap again and
climbing the crates. Jump to the yellow pole [161] and use
it to swing across to the framework on the other side. As
you walk to the end of the framework it will start to tip
downward because of the weight so you will need to jump to
the next section quickly. The next piece of framework is much
more steady. Shoot the metal ring
holding up the window piece to make it fall out of the way.
Jump and swing on the rope that was holding up the window
piece and jump to the piece of framework on the other side.

Kick the barrel out of the way if you need to then jump and
grab the overhead cable to slide down
to the next building.

Walk toward the suspended platform on the side and throw
your grapple
toward it. Pull the grapple with the action button - hold
the action button while grappled to the platform to pull the
platform toward you then retract the grapple with the grapple
button to cause the platform to sway back and forth. Jump
to the platform when it moves toward you. Look up while on
the swaying platform to see a shiny light up above. Jump toward
the shiny light and grapple to it. Turn to Lara's right and
swing
to the metal platform up ahead.

Use the grapple to grab the suspended platform
in the back just like before and make it sway by pulling on
it and letting go. Jump to the swaying platform then throw
your grapple at the next platform and make it sway back and
forth. Don't have them swaying back and forth in repetition,
make sure that they sway differently. If you move the first
platform enough, you don't even have to mess with the second
platform, just jump straight to it. Either way, jump to the
next swaying platform and look up to notice another shiny
light above you. Jump and grapple on to the shiny light up
above. Turn to Lara's right and swing toward the broken railing
on the outside floor of the building.

A few of Takamoto's guards will walk out onto the rooftop.
Two pitbulls will join the battle when the guards start to
shoot
at you. Shoot at the lamps on the side of the garden to make
them explode while fighting the guards. Kill the pitbulls
immediately as they run up to you. Enter the door in the back
where the guards came from and walk to the bottom floor. Shoot
the crate
behind all the boxes to find a .
Travel all the way up the stairs, past the door, and walk
out onto the pipe next to the broken railing. Jump to the
ledge in the back then move to the right. From the ledge,
jump to the pipe in the back of the Lara then shoot the small
crate to reveal a .
To get down, jump back to the ledge then fall to the ledge
below it and fall once again to land safely near the office
door. Open the door to the office.

Walk up to the side of one of the cubicles and you'll notice
tons of Takamoto's guards walking around in the office. Throw
a grenade toward one of them and start blasting away.
Hide behind the cubicles to avoid their gunfire. After the
battle, go up the steps in the back and move past the large
table toward the two cabinets. Open the left cabinet to find
a . Facing the
screen in the middle, look toward the left side of the room
to see two glass cubicles. Walk into the glass cubicle further
back and shoot the box inside to collect a .
All the exits of the office are sealed off, so Lara will
need to make her own exit. Look up toward the big screen in
the middle of the room and shoot the rings on each side that
are holding it up.
All it needs now is just a little help to knock it over so
use your grapple to grapple the shiny metal object in the
middle
of the screen and press the action button to give it a slight
tug. Two guards will move out from the area behind the screen
as it falls. Jump to the top edge of the screen and pull yourself
up then shoot the guards. Enter the doors ahead.

Climb the pole
next to the door and jump to the ledge on the structure to
the right
of it. Shimmy to the other side and pull yourself up to the
platform up above. Notice the shiny metal piece on the bottom
of the platform up ahead. Grapple the shiny metal piece and
give it a tug
to rotate the platform downward. Jump to the platform then
jump to the next platform with the ladder. Climb the ladder
to the area above.

Look up and grapple the shiny metal piece on the bottom of
the platform up ahead then pull it.
Use the pole on the piece that you just rotated to jump to
the platform across from it then climb the pole.
Jump to the platform at the top then jump to the next pole
across from it. When you get near the top you'll notice a
pole in the back of Lara. When you jump toward it make sure
to jump diagonally or you will miss the pole. When Lara grabs
onto the pole the top platform will rotate downward. Turn
around and swing back to the pole you were just on and climb
back to the top. The platform ahead will start to rotate back
downward as you move toward the right side so run and prepare
to jump toward the next platform at the end.

Jump and climb the pole across from you. As you climb to
the top, the pole will start to give away near the top so
you will have to quickly jump toward the poles near the windows.
The next four poles will fall shortly after jumping to them
so make sure to swing and jump fast. Open the door ahead.

In the back, some guards will be talking while standing under
a chandelier.
Target the chandelier and shoot it with your guns to drop
it on both of them. Shoot the remaining guard if one survives
but do not walk out from behind the walls since the guards
on the floor above will have an easy target if you do. Go
around the side past the two sofas and blast the guards on
the top floor. Shoot the crate on the top floor to find a
. Hop down to
the floor below and look off to the left to see a doorway
next to the stairs. Enter the room and kick open the middle
cabinet to the left to reveal . Leave the room and open the set of doors to
your left.

As Zip will point out, do not go down the right hall since
there is a trap waiting for you. Walk over to the control
room to the left and press the red button on the wall near
the fire extinguisher to start the sprinkler system. You can
also view the security cameras by using the control system
off to the side in order to find some hints for one of the
later rooms. If you touch any of the red laser lights then
the turret gun in the back will shoot at you. Roll the metal
ball to the left off of its stand then roll it in front of
you as you walk through the lasers. As you roll the ball,
the turret will fire but the bullets will not be able to penetrate
the metal ball.
Wait for the turret to stop firing when you make it across
then open the door at the end of the hall to the left.

A cutscene
will activate upon entering. Some guards armed with shotguns
will bust through the sliding doors in the back of the room
after the cutscene. Notice how the dragon hanging over the
table is staring straight at a glass window. Get in the back
of the dragon and grapple
the shiny metal object that it is holding. Just like the platforms
from earlier, pull back on the dragon then let it go so it
will hit the window
up ahead of it. Two guards will attack from the top floor
after the glass breaks. Pull yourself up, but don't enter
the elevator in front of you just yet. Run down the corridor
to your right to find a room with some assault rifles on the
table. Push the red and black chest
on the side all the way back to the window that you just broke
and push it to the floor below. The chest will break and reveal
the .
Grab an assault rifle or a shotgun and press the elevator
button. Walk in the elevator
to start a cutscene.

This is the first true boss fight
of the game. For starters, do not try to fight Takamoto on
the bottom floor or the turret guns will make quick work of
you. Get behind one of the statues around the sides of the
room and climb the pole
in the back of it.
On the top floor it is all a matter of dodging his green
fireballs and shooting him.
Takamoto will throw a set of green fireballs toward you with
his spear. He will throw them high and low. When he throws
a low set jump over them and when he throws a high set roll
under them (roll toward him). Keep in mind that Lara will
pause just a bit before jumping so you will need to jump a
little early to avoid the low fireballs. You can avoid the
fireballs while you lock on to him and that is the best way
to fight him. The statues will shield you somewhat from his
fireballs, but his attacks will sometimes go through them.
Chase him around the top area and shoot him with either a
shotgun or an assault rifle. An assault rifle has the advantage
of distance since it can basically hit him from any part of
the room, but a shotgun will murder him if you can get up
close to him. When you make it to him, he will sometimes try
to hit you with his spear so make sure to move around while
unloading your guns on him. If you run out of ammo with your
secondary weapon use the handguns.
