Correct, the game did update, but the version shown in the .exe file didn't change. So its pretty hard to check if the game did actually update at your computer.
There is a way to see if you have the right version or not.
Download the 2 promo trainers at CheatScapes from CJB. Check if the promo trainer says "Game Found" or "Game Found, but wrong version".

Stay tuned. I am sure Caliber will find a way and he will produce a perfect trainer for us. We have to wait patiently. Like in case of BBC 2 and retail version trainer for the patch no 5.

Yeah this game has given me a headache too! But I can tell you and I hope this helps that the latest version of the trainer that was uploaded to the CheatHappens website yestrday has worked for me without any problems so you might want to give it a try. Of course when I was running with the latest trainer I had just reinstalled the game and was NOT using a no CD/DVD fix.
