What disappoints me is that the developer are making individual titles for each and every campaign, why not release all three in one package?

And yes, even I did re-install the original one right now, enjoying it!

see..its simply a marketing gimmick..to make some money and to keep the buzz alive plus with each faction game being about 7GB in size i think it'd be a huge game if all of them were put together plus they're trying to probably give each faction its due in terms of importance. atleast that's how i see it

I'm not sure on the marketing gimmick at this point, but I will agree with you that if they had shipped everything all at once, we'd all have disk space issues right now!

yea..i mean we'd need some serious HDD space with just the game files being about 21/22GB in size plus additional space for save games and patches etc.(remember SW Force Unleashed) on top of all that it'd be a shame if the developers couldn't pay close attention to every aspect of each and every faction simply because they'd have to do it all at one go.

I'm sorry, I have to kill this one... space requirements wouldn't increase THAT much with both the Zerg and Protoss campaigns included, it's called Shared Resources. All the textures, all the models (with the exception of a few map models), are all included in the base game already. So all that is needed for the Zerg/Protoss campaigns is simply the campaign files and the maps. Some voice-over too, I'm sure. All in all I'd say each expansion will probably add less than 1Gb of data to the game, and that's a high estimate.

There is NO reason to think each expansion would duplicate all the disk space requirements of the original game, and if it does, it's because they Blizzard had a brain fart and didn't think to make the installer check and see if the base files were there and just have it install the needed files for the expansion.

And I dunno if they've released this info yet, but I fully expect the next two games to be Expansions, where you guys are talking about them as if they're gonna be SC3 and SC4. I'll be surprised if they're even stand-alone.

They'll most likely be expansions, but I think your estimate about disk space usage is a bit off. Probably more around 3-5GB per upgrade, because they'll doubtless have new maps with each one, new resource files, but most importantly - cinematic cutscenes. Those video files alone will chew up a lot of space.

If they do have the same disk space requirements, it would only be if Blizzard were foolish enough to make it a standalone game that does not require WOL in order to be installed and played, and I don't think there's much chance of that =].

On topic, I installed SC1 on my work PC yesterday so I can get some practice in with a few people on the network during the slow parts of the day XD.

Regarding the disk space usage, they may include a system scan to see if you have the WoL game or not. But at this time it would also be erroneous for them to think that EVERYONE bought WoL. So bear in mind that some people may play WoL and then uninstall it, so each iteration will most likely be a full game in my opinion (about $0.05 worth). Also if they make each one a full game then it will look more like its worth $59.99. Which is probably what we will be paying on day one when it comes out.

If they are expansions only they I am with the 3-5 GB range as well as far as disk space. But I DON'T work for Blizzard so I am only speculating and its fun.

HDD are pretty cheap now, you can get 500GB for $50 and 1TB only costs about $80

How can you be disappointed each race has its own game?

The original Starcraft has 30 missions, 10 for each race. Brood war has 24. Wings of Liberty has 29 missions. Each of the expansions will have at least 24 missions.

That means each installment of Starcraft 2 on its own will be as big as the original Starcraft was. How can that be disappointing?
