are they any perks from these achievements like mass effect had or are they purely for self-gratification. If they are purely self-gratification then I personally don't care if my achievements are diasbled ...right?

if you get achievements you unlock, decals, portraits, and maybe some other things but mostly non gameplay changing

Pure fluff. Stuff like army decals and character portraits. Nothing really important.

i wish it freaking unlocked all the SP campaign equipment and such for the terran side but all its for are pictures, some medals (for the challenges etc) as the other users said, pure fluff no substance.

which is why i see no reason to ban anyone using a trainer. lol
