Alien Swarm Message Board  

I just noticed today that Alien Swarm has a dedicated server option. Will it work if you start a dedi, use the trainer, and have your friends join?

I don't know, but it may be possible. I know that it works if you create an online singleplayer game with the following command:

asw_ignore_need_two_player_requirement 1

You could play the whole campaign with a single Techmarine, unlocking almost every achievment. If you take the risk to get banned from Steam.

why would one get banned for a built-in legit console command?

In combination with the trainer.

Has anyone actually been banned from using a trainer in this game? It isn't a Valve game, therefore it doesn't have VAC checking up on if my information is correct. Corrections anyone?

doesnt matter if it's a valve game. VAC pretty much runs steam. Steam is not a separate entity. It's just what Valve decided to call it.

it does not use vac if you check the steam page for the game vac isn't in the picture

That's funny if you look in the server browser every server has vac protection.
