the excuse that there isn't any material for new games is plane ********!
how many books get release every month?
and are the stories in those books all the same since the writing of books started?
or movies. are there all the same movies all around since the late 18 hundreds?
no!
it's all about creativity. if you hire a good writer, he can create a story for your game that is new, or what ever you like.
but it's the laziness of great parts of the gaming industry that prefer to shovel out game with ever increasing numbers at the end.
i'd like to see more titles with no numbers in the than the X's part of some sucked-dry, multiple times recycled game concept.
but i'm getting off topic here.
the game was good. the mushy texture issue was . . . not so funny, and happened to me a few times. but the game never crashed or bugged out in any way. so thumbs up for that.
the story is kinda new and refreshing and it leaves you thinking what you could have done other than the choices you are given at the end. (nice to have a savepoint right before the end so you can see both ends, even without a dedicated save-system)
but one thing i didn't understand.
there is this one part, where you have to go through some formerly sealed areas. it has a dense atmosphere and it's spooky, even so there are almost no enemies.
in that section there is one of those audiolog thingys in a room that you have to enter through one of the broken windows.
activating that voicelog triggers a jumpscare. it's not brutally scary or anything, but it's the only one of it's kinds that i remember in the whole game and it leaves me puzzles as to why there is this one, and no other.
or to be more precise: why is it there, and not left out all along?
it was kind of counter productive, since the adrenaline rush kicked in a few seconds later, because it wasn't that scary.
but once it kicked in, i missed most of the audiolog and i had to start it all over to find out what it was about.
that was useless at best.
anyhow.
fun game, medium length, if you take your time and look everywhere for hidden goodies and stuff. the story isn't all new, but has some interesting twists and turns.
but to be honest, i would wait to buy it when the prized drop, buy it second hand or rent it.
so much about my 2 cents.
and the $1,98 i gave extra . . . =)
totally agree with you but also you have to remember how would some of this material work as a game...you have to have certain mechanics and this is where the problem comes into play cause then if you do an original game idea youre going to have to use given game mechanics and get called a clone. I.E Castlevania Lords of Shadow is already being called a god of war clone and it hasnt even been released yet( btw im so buying that game huge vampire fan and love castlevania games just awesome games)
