Same here, I love steam, and steam trains lol
Anyway, I hate steam and everything it stands for, having to wait 100 hours for an update (and I have a great internet speed) is quite annoying.
And the fact that "you need to be signed in to steam!" message when all I really want to do is play LAN.
[quote2]I promise you it is the case in SA. It even says so on most of the new game covers that get released here. I do have some Steam titles that do work in offline mode, Modern Warfare 2 being the last of them. Assassins Creed 2 is a good example where you have to be permanently connected. If your connection fails during game play, it crashes and all progress is lost. Don't know why it works like that here. Sure sux.
Can't say I've ever experienced that issue with any of my games, even using wifi which likes to cut out a lot, but I know what you mean and that really would me off :/
Edit:
I guess it's a good anti-piracy thing, I don't suppose you can get an offline crack just so that your internet stops screwing up your game and crashing it?

I've yet to run into a crack, Steam is quite air tight when it comes to cracks etc and I do not possess the skills to write any. Only thing to do is to hope and pray the internet connection behaves itself and finish the game before wanting to throw your PC out the window.
On another topic...
You mentioned earlier that most of your console requires internet connection/updates. a Little birdie told me it's to hit us next year. No more inserting a disc and off you go.... from next year on, PS3 and 360 games will have to be updated via a permanent internet connection before you will be able to play the game.... and we're not talking a few megabytes. ALL over a 1Gb downloads.
I was on the brink of getting a console (i'm a die hard PC gamer, no console game can beat a PC guy with FPS, FACT...but that's a topic for another day. ) when I heard this. Problem is with consoles, that it's almost double the price for a console game than a PC game (new releases) in SA.
There's going to be a LOT of people getting a big fat surprise next year.
lol wow so many ignorant people here fyi all steam is is one big arse drm system and a crappy one at that
Sigh. Yes. It's so crappy, that it auto-updates my games, gets me my stuff on release day, and provides me with an amazing MP experience. :|
Seriously. Get a life. The only people who hate STEAM are worthless pirates that expect everything for free. Those of us that actually pay for games love STEAM!
steam rocks its cheap and reliable so lang as you have internet of course..
GamersGate is the cheapest download site avalible.
