How do you tell if the game is the original retail or a patched version?

i'm confused as well, BUT!
if the game doesent work with 1.0(crash) then ur game is v1.2

is your game downloaded or bought?...(meaning torrent or digital copy/shop)

and to tell what version your game is navigate to the installation folder of C&C, then right click the application icon, (that starts the game), then click properties and click on the details tab it should say file version. ( mine says 1.556457), now i dont know that it is correct but that might be the latest version, also some games have the version number in the main menu of the game, some do, so look around when you play, you might see the version you have installed/updated.

Mine doesnt, I mean even in the right click >property>detail it just show nothing like File Version: ,But when I do like D-GAMER said, and turn out to be my version was the Original version.
