It is kinda true though, if you cant at least play the game with it at least running on medium to high graphics settings then what the point, the game is gonna look to be honest so i agree.
    Play to win!

It's a shame that the game isn't compatible with laptops...And I only found out after I bought it and played it while experiencing random crashes and BSODs :X

The game play is horrid so the graphics don't matter much anyways. Besides, I played with the game maxed out on my rig and the graphics were horrid - compared to other modern game releases. But it's really the game play that sucks donkey nuts here! I mean WTF was UBI thinking with the black and white crap and putting your mission objectives all over the walls and ground in the game? Stupid game design and the fun of the stealth and immersion from the previous splinter cell games (other than Double-Agent) is gone. In fact, I actually thought double-agent was better than this game and that's REALLY saying something! This game was more of a fast-paced run-&-gun third-person action shooter. The stealth was too lame to enjoy so I had no choice but to just run and gun my way through it. The stupid black and white conditions for stealth and the stupid mission objectives posted all over the walls like graffiti, that only the player can somehow see and not the enemy, ruined this game for me.

UBI is a crap company these days anyways. Their new DRM standard is killing their sales and their games are mediocre at best.

well...putting mission objectives and certain flash-back sequences on walls and stuff kinda took me by surprise too and i guess the reason for the game appearing to be a 'fast-paced TPS' has more to do with attempting to broaden its appeal to the spray and pray style gamers which i didn't like either but i still enjoyed playing it one time and won't be going in for a second play-through. i kinda get nostalgic thinking about the very first Splinter Cell which in my opinion was the best one of the entire series.

The first of any series is usually the best. There are some exceptions and unfortunately Splinter Cell: Conviction isn't it.

I thought the original Splinter Cell was on par with the original Thief game that came out a long time ago. Both of them had me convinced I was a really stealthy dude that better depend on the shadows to save my life rather than attempt to run & gun my way through the game. There's more tension and fun in hiding from the bad guys vs just shooting them.

Thief was so good because you were severely weak compared to the enemies and ammo was scarce. You had to really think about what you were doing and sneaking past bad guys in a dark creepy castle with torches mounted on the walls was just thrilling. It was actually fun to sit in the dark and listen to some of the conversations the castle guards talked about while you were thinking of your next move to get around them unscathed. It was more fun letting the guards live rather than killing them and that's simply rare for most games.

The original Splinter Cell was like a modern day version of the original Thief game. The people who ruined the Splinter Cell series in my opinion were the ones that wanted the restrictions on who you killed to be removed. All this did was allow the player to just run & gun his way through the game rather than thinking about his next move to progress. It killed the tension and strategy of the game. It's like giving Garrett in the Thief game an Ak47 and running through the castles killing the guards with ease. To me, that's just boring.

The bottom line is - that in games like this, it's more fun to feel underpowered vs. overpowered. There's no sense in hiding when you're the biggest badass to have ever lived. The guards are more scared of you! They should be the ones hiding!

Played it through and through 3 times now a few lvl's i would not mind doing with out, but cant say im disappointed with the game other then the short time it takes to complete.

Gfx looks good from where im sitting and playing, gameplay still the same sort of think it over before you jump out at the enemy's, atleast it is for me, still thinking about the direction around the enemy's and getting between the enemy and hostages or targets i need to take out.

Yes you cant hide a corpse any more other then to use the person as a human shield and drag them into a darkplace and take them out there, but the game has evolved into a more dynamic stealth game rather then the pain in the ass stay hidden and avoid being seen, he no longer has a master pulling his strings why should he care if an alarm is triggered now.

He has one job to do find his daughters killers and hunt them, using every thing that Third echelon taught him, so he needs to go out of line of sight now but you can trip alarms and go loud, so im all for the gameplay in this one.
I am an old gamer and i need my trainers to help me complete them these days so i have started to look at what trainer options i have for my games and Cheat happens tend to not disappoint so thank you for the game enjoyment i can still have.

I figure, screw it, I'll respond to this thread. You want to know how this game is perceived by users and reviewers? Metacritic has the answer: Link

It's got an 84 MetaScore and a 5.4 User Score. That means it's a fairly decent game, definitely not perfect. The real kicker, ALMOST EVERY SINGLE NEGATIVE THING SAID ABOUT THIS GAME IS ACTUALLY ABOUT THE DRM AND NOT THE GAME.

I think it's fairly obvious that Ubisoft as a company has reached new lows, and that their new DRM scheme is draconian and unacceptable. Nonetheless, the DRM should not be used as a basis of whether a game does or does not suck, the game should be. That said, I'm not defending the title, I just feel like a discussion of the game's quality should be based in facts, not in opinions and conjecture.

I will say for sure if you want an enjoyable gaming experience with any of the new Ubisoft releases (Assassin's Creed 2, Settler's 7, Splinter Cell: Conviction, etc.) that you should BUY the game, but then go get a crack online to remove the DRM. This will resolve 99% of the issues people have reported with the above games.

Also, while we're e-peening in this thread, how bout I drop a deuce with my triple-monitor Eyefinity rig:

    EVGA E657 P55 FTW
2x MSI Radeon 5850 Twin Frozr in CrossfireX
1x MSI GT240-OC for PhysX (using the G3D Hybrid PhysX hack)
    16GB of DDR3-1600 G-Skill RipJaw
    i7-860 @ 4.2GHz
    HAF 922 mid-tower case
2x26" and 1x24" displays running at 1920x1200 each (5760x1200 Eyefinity)

    Link
    ^^
    Triple monitors are pretty rocking.
