Our Monster Hunter Tri message board is available to provide feedback on our trainers or cheats.
If we do the Gecko and other softmod for the Wii, will we still be allowed to join multiplayer on this game? Or will the servers recognize this modification and keep us out?

Having them installed on your WII doesn't do anything unless you actually run the game THROUGH the loader. If you load the game with cheats on, and go online, there's almost a 100% chance that you'll get insta-banned.

I'm curious about this also. If I play offline with the trainer on, restart the game without loading it and go online, will it be safe? or do I risk getting banned?

have someone tried creating a new dummy character, use the trainer, and go online without the trainer on? or will they banned our ip address?

Creating a dummy character isn't going to do spit; they ban your WII, not your character.

I'm curious about the same as I had heard people getting banned for having modified games. Such as having multiples of items that you shouldn't (event items, rare carves, etc without having done missions associated), or other modified variables like money that would stick around. Granted, in the first game it wasn't an issue provided you weren't using a device (like Action Replay) while online, so I figure they may have found some other means of detection of a modified save.

Nope, you pretty much hit the nail on the head, they check your game for obvious things that you shouldn't have. Like you said, rare carves, event items that you have when you didn't do the event, and online specific items that don't match your HR. But they also check for the less-than-obvious things too. Such as checking if the amount of money you have matches against how long you've been playing the game [Theory]. They won't perma-ban you at first, you get a warning, then a 10 day suspension, then perma-ban on your third offense. How do I know? Let's just say I'll be off punishment in 2 more days and leave it at that shall we?
