During the autopatch the game keeps reporting an error message with the EnglishMovieAudio.big file which prevents the patch process from completing and being able to play the game. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the game but that doesn't fix the problem, still get this error message when the game patches. Anyone else having this problem?

What is the exact error message?

The file that reports an error is "EnglishMovieAudio.big". The only way I can get the game to play is to delete that file which means no audio in the cutscenes or the talking head sequences during missions. The rest of the game is unaffected by the abscence of this file.

I have tried to repair my installation and when that didn't work, I uninstalled and reinstalled but when the latest patch kicks in again, that's when I get the error message.

This never happened on previous patches so I don't know why it's happening now.

Lastly I'm using a paid digital downloaded version of the game bought off the Direct-2-Drive site.

So the game patches successfully when you delete the .big file?

Yes, like I said the game will play but the audio is gone from the cutscenes and the talking-heads mission updates.

I'm going to try to install it on another hard drive, maybe this one is on the way out but it shouldn't - only had the system for a couple of years.

So make a backup of the .big file (Rename it, or copy it to some other folder), then patch the game. After the game is patched to 1.02, restore the .big file. Hope this works for you!

Thanks for the help, I was able to solve the problem by installing the game on my other hard drive. The game patched to the latest version without incident this time.......maybe there is an issue with the other drive who knows, this PC has been acting flaky at times but only when it comes to games.
