WHAAT?! i thought i was gonna fall into shock when i saw this game (which ive waited for so long) wsnt for XP. Its just like a big finger to my face when i look at the steam store page for this game.
"Just Cause 2 only supports Windows Vista or Windows 7 and requires a video card that supports DirectX 10 or higher. Windows XP and DirectX 9 are not supported."
vista and windows 7 are (in my opinion) crap... so i guess this is a game ill just have to miss...
Better upgrade to Windows 7 because there is only going to be one more major update to XP from Microsoft and after that one there will be no more. They will consider it a dead OS just like they did to Win98 after Vista was released.
A lot of games that will be coming out this year will be DirectX 10 only and that means it will not run on XP so you can either upgrade to Windows7 of just be content to only play DirectX 9 games.
You can buy a OEM copy of Windows7 for $100 - $120 that is about the cost of two normal games.
actually, thats exactly what i am annoyed about... my father is a ******* who puts passwords on my pc's so i can only play when he allows me to. my pc has both xp and vista os installed which i can choose on startup
i used vista a little in the beginning, but my father forgot the password for vista. i almost hit him in the head, but then i rmmbrd i had xp... and no problem there
whenever i want on xp i just boot up, change password and play mehehehe...
Dude, you seriously need to layoff the hatred for your dad
I'm hoping they stop making games for XP, there's little excuse to have a PC running XP on decent hardware. If you can afford to upgrade your hardware to run the latest games it's time to upgrade that OS too. Just Cause 2 is that graphically nice partly because they've just ignored XP completely.
I have a fellow worker that just paid Newegg close to $1200 for parts to create his new uber gaming rig yet he installed his old copy of XP from his old computer on it instead of purchasing a copy of Windows7.
I told him he will need Windows7 to play the newer games, he insisted that XP will be fine for at least another 4 years. So he gets all his parts and builds his new computer. He then gets ****ed off when he purchases Just Cause2 and finds out he needs either Vista or Windows7 to play it.
I laughed at him and told him he could have purchased a copy from NewEgg for $110 (they were on sale when he purchased his parts). Sure it is a OEM copy but since he only has one computer and tends to buy a new one every 3 to 4 years it is still a deal.
