In your UserData folder (C:\\Program Files\Popcap Games\Plants vs Zombies\UserData by default on XP and C:\\Gamedata\Popcap Games\Plants vs Zombies\UserData by default on Vista (hidden)) you'll find User1.dat, User2.dat etc and the game saves too, you can copy these and NOT Userdata.dat and you'll be fine and not overwrite your friend's as long as you rename your UserNumber to his/her next available slot.
I have the Steam ver. of this game, but do not see a folder named "UserData" in the Plants VS Zombies folder. There is a sub-folder in the Steam folder that is called UserData, but it has a weird # as its name. There are 3 sub-folders in that folder. Which one do I put the files from the posted save into? Is the folder location different for the Steam ver.? The only sub-folders I have in Plants VS Zombies are "drm" and "properties". Any info on how to get the save to work would be greatly appreciated.
I accidentally overwrote my GameStop-downloaded ver. (which didn't work with the trainers) and now I bought it on Steam so I can use the correct trainer from this site. I really don't want to have to re-do the entire adventure mode all over again.
Oh, BTW, the GameStop-downloaded ver. didn't have a UserData folder in it either. I know that both ver. of the game have saved my data, but there isn't any folder called that in either ver. When I select right-click and select Properties, there is no option to view Hidden files.
Thanks.
Okay, I found the correct folder for the gamesaves, but I cannot get the game to recognize the downloaded saves. I tried renaming the .dat savefiles to have 1_0, 1_1, 2_0, and 2_1 at the end of the name, but that didn't work. I also tried deleting the user1.dat (my profile) and renaming the downloaded profile (user2.dat) to user1.dat, but that didn't work either. I also tried overwriting my user.dat file with the downloaded one and that one changed my profile's name to the downloaded one, but it still wouldn't recognize any of the downloaded save files. No matter what I tried, either the game didn't recognize it at all or it treated the save as if I had started a new game from scratch (all unlockable modes were still locked and Adventure mode started me on Level 1-1). Does anyone know how to get the uploaded save to work?

Hey mate, I had the same problem too. And I managed to solved it
In my opinion, I think its because you had the Pop Cap version or maybe you are having the same OS as me (Windows 7)
Changing the userdata folder for the game directory will not make any difference, even deleting the folder,
you will still be able tp play your profile. Because that's not the wrong "userdata" savegame folder.
So here's what i did. I made a search for "userdata" in C drive and came up with a few results.
The correct directory where the savegame is saved is C:\ProgramData\PopCap Games\PlantsVsZombies
Backup your savegame if you want then delete the existing files in that folder and replace them with the uploaded ones.
And everything should work all fine.
Hope it helps. Enjoy planting
Cool, thanks for the info. I'll try this and let you know if I have any problems with it.
Thanks.
EDIT: Still can't get it to work. Any other suggestions?
