Regarding the Mega Trainer 1.01 (STEAM/D2D), Super Health, Super Squad Health, E....

I recently installed ME2 as well as all the available DLCs. When I hit F1 to start the trainer, it always crashed to the desktop. I've tried moving the trainer to the install directory, starting it after I've started ME2, running both the trainer and the game as an administrator, nothing works. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I also checked my antivirus software and it's not interfering with the trainer.

For your reference, I run Windows Vista and I have the Steam version of ME2.

If you're using the 1.01 trainer, make sure you've actually installed the 1.01 patch.

Nope. The only thing it'll do is overwrite the existing coalesced.ini file, so if you've made any modifications to it back it up first.

Doesn't steam automatically update the game? If not, how would I manually install the 1.01 patch for the steam version?

I don't know if that's the issue, because I've tried using the original 1.00 version of the steam trainer as well and it failed too.

So to update, my game has been patched to the 1.01 version. I found the patch_notes.txt for 1.01.

Also, when I activate my trainer, it says game found, trainer activated, which indicates that it has found the steam install directory properly, right? Steam is installed on a non-standard path on my comp (for space issues) but so long as the trainer has found the game, it should work right? I've also tried running the trainer from the ME2 install directory and it doesn't work.

Is it possible that the DLCs are messing up the trainer?

Alright, here's my last theory as to why it's not working. So my steam directory (including me2 files) are saved on my D drive on my computer (not in program files on C drive). Then my savegames are saved to My Documents, which is also on my D drive. That's the default, Bioware gamesaves are created in a Bioware folder in My Documents (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc.). The problem is, Vista designates the Documents folder as read only (shows up as a blue folder, instead of regular yellow-white). That's not to say that I can't edit any of my documents, that's just what the folder is designated as. Could that be interfering with the trainer? I've tried running the trainer and the game as an administrator and it doesn't work, but perhaps the document protection on the My Documents folder isn't superceded by that. If in fact, that is causing the problem, how would I go about moving my Bioware saves from the My Documents folder?

One reason why I'm not convinced this is the problem though, is that ME2 crashes even when I activate the trainer at the start menu, before loading any saves.

    Anyone have any ideas?
