Well, to continue my story: Last night, sunday evening, my net went down for 10 mins. No play.
Today, I left work early. Slow day, and I'll make up for it later this week. However, AC2 doesn't detect any internet connection. Apparently, Ubisoft servers are down, and have been for hours.
Great. Thanks. While the ones who pirated the game plays. Now, exactly how does that give Ubisoft a happy customer, and reduce piracy in the world?
Rather stupid uh.
And how does talking about this on these forum make Cheat Happens "Wares friendy" - as someone keeps proclaiming.
Rather stupid uh.
It's Ubisoft that are promoting wares, and they're very efficient at it, at least for the moment.
I've been "suffering" DRMs in all forms since the early 1980's, when I started buying and playing computer games. Wheels and color coded pages in the manuals was popular at the time, as well as questions referring to the manual mid game. They developed into damaged disks (uncopyable) that had to be inserted, on to CD versions of the same. Then serial keys, limitations on number of installs.
So, if we have this rampant scene of pirates, killing the industry, and there's been DRMs for 30 years...
Well, any intelligent person can draw the conclusion I suppose. But I spell it out anyway: DRM's don't work, they don't limit piracy. They only limit the enjoyment of the paying customer.

I had a 2 hour outage last night, so I know how you feel - hopefully those don't happen too often after then 9th when I could get the game (still thinking about it). At least I was able to play another game (a properly done Steam game in offline mode).
Internet connectivity in rural America sucks.
At the moment servers are being DoS'd because most of the broadband kiddies hate the idea they will have to buy the game.
Please stop with your trolling it's not fun anymore.

DRM is what it is. The control of one's own software. The developers have every right to do this regardless of what you think. If you don't like it, then simply do not buy it. Most people don't have a problem with it since many are going to buy it regardless.

trolling? what dab wrote is probably right. it's taking inordinate amoung of time to run this game, if at all, if you bought it. they are likely getting hammered by DOS from people who are ****ed that it can't be cracked.
best,
Cal
To be honest DDoS a game because it can't be cracked, I'd rather believe that they DDoS it to show how deficient the DRM really are and off the records Ubisoft doesn't have the best reputation to always give their customers the correct information. Link
