I hope for a level cap increase too, but I'm pretty sure BW have already confirmed that they think 30 is high enough and probably won't change.
Luckily, some people start editing files of a game before they start actually playing it.
I found this on another forum for increasing the level cap... I can't tell you it works as I haven't tried it myself. But it's here if you want to give it a go:
"Go to line 4239 and change the MaxPlayerLevel= value to a desired value. Then change the MaxPlayerExperience= value to a desired value as well."
This is in the coalesced.ini file and just use Notepad++ to easily find line 4239.

The Hammerhead tank, part of the Firewalker DLC pack, which also includes 5 new missions featuring the vehicle will be released exclusively through the Cerberus Network in late March of 2010 and will be free to download for all Cerberus Network members as well as Kasumi's Stolen Memory, featuring a new squad member and associated set of missions, as well as a new Achievement and the 'Locust' submachine gun on April 6, 2010.

There's more, the Alternate Appearance Pack is an upcoming DLC pack for Mass Effect 2 that will be released on March 23, 2010 for 160 Microsoft Points (Xbox 360) or 160 Bioware Points (PC). The pack includes three new outfits, one each for squadmates Garrus Vakarian, Jack, and Thane Krios.
