Punk Buster was the anti cheat system for MW1 and Activitions biggest mistake was only letting us play it through steam as its ****. i hate steam that much i concidered not getting MW2 but i love the COD games so it ended up being a must.

They're using Steam as copy-protection. Which is a hell of a lot better than any of the more malicious schemes which have been used in the recent past (such as SecuROM or StarForce or SafeDisc).
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

i like the idea of being able to choose what side i play as and what servers i play on steam doesnt give that. i also dont like running one program just to play a game, i have to do it with DOW 2 too not that its a very good game compeared to the others.

Well, unfortunately Infinity Ward was done with the game several months back, so not much gamers can do after production of Title.
The only thing we can look forward to is the next one by Treyarch, despite of all the rumours of how its going to be. Just pray that Dedicated Servers will be included in gameplay.
For the hackers, there is nothing you can do about it. Steam Forums strictly post forums for us gamers to read and not to post once you start having errors, but like a readme before playing type of thing. Reporting hackers will not do anything...so its a waste of breath to do any Screenshots, videos, or reporting. It will not ban them. Steam gets hundreds of reports daily for any cheating/glitching infraction.

don't talk to me about steam or VAC, ive lost a copie of MW2 becouse of it.
couple of months ago my steam account has been hacked, took me about 15 mails and 5 days of waiting to get the account back, once is recieved it again it took another 2 days, tryd to log in BAM "cheat detected", back to steam support then. they're awnser was that they can not trace the cheat to a specific computer, in other words "go screw yourselve we are to lazy to investigate, so go buy a new copy to make us happy". i'll never buy any game on steam or from infinety ward, its just outrageous i could have thrown 50€ out of the window for all i/they care !

Thats my point oenieboen steam are very lazy there customer support is crap i had my account highjacked a while ago and im not that computer literate that i can just sort it out. i went to there support page and it took me ages to understand it but i muddled through just about. I can do something again and again if im talked through it once but steam doesnt even offer that all they are interested in is our money and thats it.
Like you i will never buy another sream ran game i hate steam that much.
I had a sim problem with EA a while ago to with CnC 3 not running properly so i call tech support and im sure i got a trainee he told me to go somewhere and start deteting files so i did trusting he was right then all of a sudden ny PC shut down and i couldnt restart it. the tech sent me an email of everything we had done so after using another PC to read it i phone my PC tech support told them what had happened and they went mad to the point of phoning EA themselve and having a few choice words with them. Because of the EA tech guy i lost loads of stuff i hadnt been about to back up as i had left the drive at work. EA was kinda nice and sent me a few games as compo for F@#king up my PC.
