I have just been playing a game online where i found 2 members of my team cheating. I tried reporting them to steam i found this.

The Valve Anti-Cheat system is enabled for servers displaying the Secured shield logo. If a user connects to a VAC-Secured server from a computer with identifiable cheats installed, the VAC system will ban the user from playing on VAC-Secured servers in the future.

While server admins may choose to ban specific players, server admins cannot VAC ban players. The VAC system is automated - contacting Steam Support to report cheaters is not necessary, nor will Steam Support act on any information provided.

The VAC system reliably detects cheats using their cheat signatures. Any third-party modification to a game designed to give one player an advantage over another is classified as a cheat or hack and will trigger a VAC ban. This includes modifications to a game's core executable files and dynamic link libraries.

Now i dont know about anyone else but as this is a steam only game i cant choose which server i play on just the type of game i want to play. Now if VAC really works why haven't those cheating been banned.

I think we should all gang up on online cheater by letter others know that they are cheating and name and shame them in game too i have 2 names for you.

Also where do people stand on under age players as i keep having a 10 year old try and add me as a friend on steam and is playing MW2 online. The game is rated 18 as you all know and i think its wrong for anyone under that age to be playing it.

VAC is the ****.

There WILL BE hacks that circumvent it and allow noobs to cheat freely.

What we can do is never to play with noobs who cheat, online cheating is there to stay...And I really pity those programmers who try developing anti-cheat systems again and again.

The cheaters on MW2 suck big time.I can understand a rank cheat because a lot of people dont have the time to play that much.Anyways ranks dont replace skill so if you are at lvl 700 but no skills you are still a noob.

You won't believe the number of cheaters on Counter Strike, almost half the world is cheating. MW2 is still a recent game, so we haven't seen the full growth of these noobish cheaters.

I stopped playing CS purely because of the amount of cheater playing. I dont mind people cheating but they are so blatant about it. before anyone anyone had killed anyone they were using preditor missils and calling in choppers.

If people want to cheat they should set up there own server to do it on.

And as for those that are saying i was playing these games when i was 8 and so on and dont really care about the age classification you all should. Game like theese promote violence and violent behavier which is why game have started having them. Two boys in the uk have been sent away for a minimume of 5 years for beating up 2 other lads and making them commit sexuall acts on each other. both boys watched violent and pornographic film and played games like COD and said the only reason they stopped beating the other boys was because there arms hurt and the reason they start was because they were bored and they could.

Im not saying that the film they watch and the games they play were the main and only reason they did it but it was a major factor which is why we have them and should adhear to them. Shops that sell games to kids that are under age to play them should be prosicuted and shouldnt sell them the game if they think it for an under age person either.

The thing about VAC is that it's archaic and easy to bypass. Even Punkbuster catches and disables more cheaters than VAC does.

Left 4 Dead has a massive community of Cheaters, and all of them are using the same two aimbot suites for several months to a year now.

Valve can't program worth half a crap. AI is garbage, Steam is sub-par, and VAC is ineffective at best.

No other developer has games where the friendly AI has a habit of wandering off on their own to get owned, healing at times where running is better, and healing when under fire.

No other developer has an Anti-Cheat suite so outdated that you can find an 8 month old MP cheating suite and it works with the current game flawlessly.

Oh, and Dark Night, those kids were disturbed long before they played CoD and watched porno.

Video Games are a scapegoat manufactured by the fascist right-wing parties of various governments from the U.S. and U.K. all the way to modern Germany and Australia. I've been playing the nastiest crap since 12 and I of course have no thoughts of senselessly dismembering, mutilating, killing, raping, etc. whereas some do. Why do they only affect the infamous but altogether minuscule sub-group when so many are unaffected?

Simply put, it's preexisting mental instability and/or bad parenting. The mentally and emotionally stable make up the vast but unrecognized majority, while the smallest minority in the gaming community gets all the attention for their transgressions despite the games never being a factor in said mental instability.

First it was books, and they were burned en masse. Then it was movies, and of course there were protests. Now it's video games, and then next I assume it'll be the next big entertainment medium to come about in the next century. Video games are no different from movies and books. The interactive nature doesn't negate the fact that movies and books continue to do more graphic and disturbing things in their stories.

Saw features brutal torture and snuff. No one cared about it due to it being a movie. Various books involve rape, gore, snuff, abuse, drugs, etc., but likewise, no one gives a rats ass about it. All of a sudden just because you follow a storyline while pressing a button and moving a stick, it's the ****ing antichrist, despite video games being extremely tame compared to the soft-core porn aspects of R Rated movies, the brutal and graphic death scenes in many movies, and of course the portrayals of genocide, racism, etc. in many movies even today.
