I have heard of the clock problem but I had also read about a virus going around PSN that could screw up a hard drive and it was confirmed when my BRAND NEW PS3 got the virus and the hard drive become corrupted and unfixable.

@ bud, I'll find a video camera and show you what I do all day, since i'm not in school at the moment...video games and research things I find to be of interest. and I acknowledge your statements and hope to bring this to end, because you seem to be a very smart person and theres no need for this to get bigger then what it's worth.


@ Cr4zyMonk3yz..you sure, because it's close to impossible for the ps3 to get a Virus someone would have to write the code for ps3 and still then you'd have to physically take it from your pc to your Ps3.

The actual problem is listed below and is now considered past:

PSN had an internal error due to the poor way Sony coded the system to read leap year. Every console read a time of March 1st, but the PSN showed a time of Feburary 29th. This meant that PS3s were unable to synchronize to the server and people would get kicked from the server along side with some glitches from the dates that could have deleted trophy rewards. This problem has been corrected for almost 3 weeks now. There is no "virus" or whatever.

Since this event is now in the past there is no reason to keep this topic alive. A hard drive that is corrupt and cannot be fixed by software indicates a hardware error (and viruses cannot inflict physical damage to the HDD).
