There is no local echo. Once you "activate" the console your normal keys will go towards typing in commands. You will not see anything being typed, but it will be typed straight into the console.

I've had this problem and what I found out is that I overlooked one simple thing.
I had applied the -enabledeveloperconsole to the DAOriginsLauncher.exe shortcut. But this command doesn't work on the Launcher!
Make sure you make a shortcut from the DAOrigins.exe file in the bin_ship directory. After I got that straight, it worked like a charm!
Once I pressed the ~ button once though, nothing happened and I could move in the game as normal. Only when I pressed the ~ button for the second time did the console apply for me and my right click did no longer move my char. After that, make sure you type something like "ee" and backspace at least 3 times to make sure you delete all text you can't see before entering your code
I'm also a Win7 user in case you were wondering.
I hope this helps you, GL & HF

Create another shortcut on your desktop that points exactly to the following: "C:\Program Files\Games\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole Use this shortcut instead of your normal shortcut to start the game when you want to run the scripts. When your game is loaded hit the ` or ~ key (should be left of 1) and directly type in the command. You'll have to hit that key prior to each and every command you want to use.
