I usually just save from the menu after a mission, or a particularly good round of free-roam Nazi bashing. Yeah you do go back to the start of the mission when loading a game saved half way through a mission, i didn't really find it to be an issue. I guess its because I usually don't stop playing until a mission is over (just pause if I get interrupted)
eh? you said after you free-roam the world condition can be saved? well.. that's worth to try.
About the mission progress, I just found out a solution for that: just let your character die, and start from latest checkpoint.
That will save you from the start-from-the-beginning thing.
Still, need the F5 to works, just in case of electricity shut down.

this is what i do too after plenty of Nazi bashing.
quicksave only saves the information for free roam targets, towers destroyed etc. it works just like normal save, except its quicker. It is not meant to save progress during a mission, so dont complain that it isnt working when its doing exactly what it was intended for.
I agreed on this one, seems to me the quicksave record the achievement too. But if the game company can't understand the true function of quicksave, it shouldn't add it to the game.
It looks stupid.
When I played GTA in PS3, it doesn't have any quicksave (understandable for there will be no shortcut to it, and it's a console). Saboteur is a very good game, and compared to GTA will have so little yet unnoticed disadvantage. Such as phone, who-res, and varieties of vehicles.
But saboteur indeed have a lot of tit-ties everywhere. LOL
Yet, this dysfunctional quicksave button is annoying. I love to quicksave before sneaking or backstabbing someone, because I can try again immediately/quickly -- that's the true purpose of 'quick'save, it's for a 'quick'load -- if something went wrong.
Quicksave options supposed to be added for a backup plan, NOT TO RESTART THE MISSION!!
But then, I just get myself killed and start from the checkpoints. It's awkwardly same though.

Then they should named it STATS QUICK SAVE than a quick save !
Since when quick save working JUST TO SAVE INFORMATION in any game ?
