Steam will have sent you the serial number to the email address your account is registered to, try checking your junk mail, also you can view it through steam by right clicking it once its installed and clicking on "view game CD key"

no it was no e-mail, but i found it in the steam folder

Open your Steam, in the Game List section.
Right click on "James Cameron's Avatar", click on "View game CD key"

I bought the witcher and when I start the game on the bottom right corner there is a steam popup that shows the serial number for the game did you check that?

Thats the key for online play, but its ok, i got it, i even finish the game days ago

The serial key code is on the back of the game manual at the bottom of the page. It's easy to miss because they have a stupid advertisement for Heroes Over Europe and the code is in an itty bitty little white bar at the left hand bottom corner. Hope that helps (you do still have the manual right?)
