In all my searching through various blogs, I have found no solution to this problem short of loading a save prior to acquiring the injury. However, I recently was fortunate enough to unload my negative effect (Shred). It happened when a Mabari War Hound attacked me and inflicted the same injury. Perhaps the only cure is the disease itself? I suppose it may be like a vaccine. Regardless, it worked.
FYI: Prior to correcting the issue I did attempt to remove the "effect" by using "*" on the CH trainer. Since my solution was born solely out of luck and not ingenuity, I figured it is best to share the conditions I had before my "effect" finally ended.
That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything. -P. Griffin

Actually...now that you mention it, that DOES make sense.
If the game is saved with the effect active (and stuck) then it doesn't go away. For other party members it resets if they're removed from the party and later put back in (possibly just going to camp may reset other members).
But the reason why the above post worked is that the effects wouldn't normally "stack". If being on fire is the timer that got stuck, then walking through fire or getting set on fire resets the timer for how long until the fire burns out. So if you have the Instant Cooldowns on the trainer turned off and get hit by the same effect then it should countdown & remove the effect properly.
Thank you for reporting it, that helps a lot. Of course people stuck with knockdown/knockout effects are still out of luck. But since I don't touch the Instant Cooldowns anymore it has never happened to me again (plus I don't use the stealth trainer option either).

simple way i found to fix the stuck debuffs was to let the char die in a fight, debuff gone. There is no fixx for it happening tho
