There is a way to turn off the music in gameplay.
Go to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 folder and look
for the "miles" folder. Put "dis" in front of miles to
to read: "dismiles". When in gameplay action there will
be no music-Just Warefare sounds-the way it is meant to.
This may not work with trainer -it has crashed at times.
    No trainer worked fine...Cheers

Why do you wanna turn off the music anyway?!
Can't you just go in the options and lower the music sound?!

It's been a long time coming.

Sadly, no. Call of duty only allows you one master sound slider. That includes Foley, dialog and music.

Seriously, when I am doing a stealth mission in special ops, the last thing I want to hear is some stupid song blasting into my ears, I need to hear the foot steps of the enemy so I can get a rough Idea of where they are with out having to look directly at them while running the risk of getting spotted.

Music on the battlefield while in a firefight... like I got a whole orchestra ticked away in my ammo pouches.

Can not turn music off in options.
    Only one volume for everything..
With the music off the sound of gunfire
is louder. that is what I like..

Thanks for the fix! The music was the single most annoying thing in this game and I'm glad to have it gone for good.

You don't have to rename it dismiles, it just has to be renamed to something besides "miles" I usually just rename it to "miled"

Thank you! Turning off the music has made this game 10x better. It has a much more realistic feel now and I can actually hear approaching enemies.

Sorry to bring this back after 6 months but instead of renaiming the folder all I did was remove the file named mssmp3.asi from the folder which does take out the music but keeps the other files in place. Be sure to keep a copy of the file somewhere else though.
