Well, after a few days of playing Dragon Rising it's clear that the true successor to the original Operation Flashpoint are the ARMA games.
These are two totally different games and it's clear that DR has been developed with Consoles in mind.
It's a very watered down experience compared to ARMA. It still has it's good points but as far as true sandbox and dynamic play is concerned, the scripted missions in DR cannot compare to AMRA 2.
Any other thoughts?

I'd have to agree, arma 2 is far superior, along with the very active mod community. It just feels more realistic and gritty than DR

I personally like DR over ARMA2, especially the multiplayer. (Plus its not as buggy as ARMA2 even after multiple patches).

well i think both are kind of difficult as to see the enemy. but i think DR might look better than AMRA 2 but that´s me. as far as wich one is better well i like them both so no clear winner here then again i didn´t play alot the older OPF game+exp´s.
COD 6 on the other hand will be coool but maybenot comparable to these 2 exellent games.

well on OFR's defense, the team tat originally made OF made ArmA 2. could be a factor in why OFR didn't live up to the expectations

I played through OF2. Then I tried ARMA2, because ppl said it's great and better than OF2. Well after about a quarter hour I couldn't handle my anger and uninstalled it. The graphics is a piece of and I didn't really know what to do even on the first map. After OF2 it was like going down to hell from heaven. I can't believe that ARMA2 is about 9gig and this is all what it can do. Even Shadow Ops: Red Mercury is more fun to play than ARMA2.

ive been playing shooters for years, and i will say all of the flashpoint series games are the hardest to complete missions, more than any other game.very frustrating at times, but i cant seem to give them up.DR was def made for consoles primary, and pc's secondary.
