New version of the Item Editor

    Fixed
Sorted the error when cancelling the load.
Sorted the cleanup of globals after saving a chest so now you don't have to close and re-open the editor.

    Added
Ability to open any chest file that you would like File menu -> Choose Chest

Thanks to Karach0s for pointing out the bugs and the ideas for fixing them.

    Download the editor here
    www.mediafire.com/file/ommznhyw4to/Item Editor 0.3.8.zip

Any problems with it post here and I will see what I can do

    Looking good, working even better.
Many thanks for adding the ability to load different chest files.
One minor detail that could (but doesn't have to ) be polished is that after one decodes a chest a file, he has to encode it back (and for the button to enable you have to click save item button) to be able to open another chest. So even if one hasn't made any changes to a chest, he has to save and encode to be able to work with another file. Not a very disturbing feature, but maybe you could leave a little bit of room for user to act.
The same applies to changing multiple items in chest. If one changes an item and clicks another one, the encode button disables until another save item action.
I don't mean to be choosy, cause after all it's your project. Besides I can probably guess why you made it this way (minimalize the chance of users corrupting saves or crashing application, wasn't it? ). So if you change it or leave it as is is totally up to you.
Other than that the program is pure awesome.

One question - can you tell me which byte (counting from the beginning of the byte array defining an item) is the "index of item in chest"? And I wonder if you tried changing this index for something else - would it corrupt the chest? If for example there are two different items with the same index. I know it's not possible to change the index with your program, so I'm only asking hypothetically.

PS. Thanks for the lightsabers tip. This time (using your editor and with normal yellow saber, not a unique) it worked. Lookee here: Link. Kinda more like Star Wars than Sacred, don't you think?

Love the cloner! I have the colectors edition vs 2.43 of Sacred 2 and heres some things I found that you can do with it.And by the way so far it is 100% stable for me under Vista 64bit.
Items can be stacked or cloned up to 20 per stack just like potions within the game. All socketed items after cloning come out exactly like the original except rings and amulates if in the original socketed item, are not included in the clones.Which is great for getting did of those blacksmith arts and keeping copies of the original item.
If your chr is level 200 you can up the level on anything to level 252 and still be able to use it.The only catch is rings and amulates are limited to level 251 so they can still be used in those sockets.Level 252 outside of sockets.Runes included.
Items from Niob have the best end results.
I do use my own custom balance file.

Heres an idea for your cloner. The ability to open two chest files at same time so you can move items back and forth between saved game folders,or chests easily. This would also open up the ability to store items outside of the game for later use.

Will try to post a pic of my Seriphin with an armor rating just over 180000 soon.

ZarrenSanders, you've read my mind. I had high plans for making something like bottomless offline chest for items. It's not even started one bit, but I planned it similar to offline chest like there was one in Loki (anyone remembers)?
Now storing items in such a chest would be a piece of cake (at least the way I had it in mind), but moving, deleting or adding them inside a real sacred2chest file, it's a little more complicated, don't you agree, jimbouk?

Karach0s, that's a really cool picture of your Seraphim. Your system must be slightly better than mine cos the graphics look pretty good.

ZarrenSanders, I might look into that one and see about moving items aroud between chests (when I say move it might be that the item is copied across rather than remove from one and place in the other). Given a bit of time I may be able to implement the export and import of single items to a file, theoretically the before and after files are similar to this as they contain all the item data for the chest, just not able to be imported in.

totallylostdriv, a bit more of a description and a sample of one of your chests may result in a resolution of your problems. I have nothing to do with cheathappens (besides posting on the forums) and am carrying out development of the editor in my FREE time and distributing it for FREE (I am also not a professional developer but do it as a hobby). Whilst constructive criticsm is welcomed the tone of most of your previous posts in other threads is very negative.

In answer to your other question Karach0s the first byte of the item is the item index in the chest (as I have defined it in the editor). If you have version 2.43 or later this starts at byte 270 (the number of items in the chest and increments -- till the last item). Armour is slightly different as it has some extra bytes at the start don't know why yet. The armour index is 17 bytes before the first reference to item type (there are 3 of these, 1 for the picture shown in the chest, 1 for the item damage, etc and 1 other that I haven't found what it controls but changed it as well so they all match).

I have not tried changing this value. I may in the future look into it to see what it does. Sacred 2 seems to be quite resilient to changing actual values in the chest for the items based on their attributes. I have messed this up a few times and over-written parts of the item but after it has been opened in game the problem has rectified itself. The item index however could cause the loop that reads in the chest to fall over.

    cos I like cylon smileys

Well, yeah, I upgraded my hardware just a few months ago. Intel quad core Q8200 2.33 GHz, 4 Gigs of ram, and nVidia GeForce 9800 GT make Sacred run silky smooth with highest settings, elite textures and even physx effects. Occasional freezes are the only problem, but from what I've read at official Sacred forums, they happen to a lot of players.

Don't worry about totallostdriv. Sometimes I suspect him of being an Ascaron or Deep Silver agent, who says bad things about cheating tools to make other people not use them. If not he must be a very unlucky fellow - every tool he uses just doesn't work and he can only throw a tantrum, the poor guy. Well, at least his forum name is adequate - he's just totally lost.

An offline chest file with a very high or no cap limit would be awsome.Only the editor would need to be able to read this file so it could copy items to a sacred chest.Copying would be better anyways so you don't loose the originals.

I've been storing stuff offline for a awhile in multiple chest files. When the chest file is moved it only moves items in the shared directory, and doesn't touch items in the chr's my items section. So it is now fairly easy to do but the editor could simplify this greatley.
