    first back up your files.
the default dataabase file for the start of a career game is
    "C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2009\Database\OfficialRelease.cdb".
If you want to edit this file so that you can start a new career game with the changes, go for it. Click "file-open a cdb file", then browse to this directory. It will prompt you about database already exists-overwrite yes/no? say yes. It'll take half a minute to load. The editor is pretty self explanatory, except that you need to click the "edit" button at the bottom right to make changes before editing another rider. You can also create your own custom pro team from the start and change your favorite riders to be on that team, or create your own riders altogether. As with editing, click the bottom right button before moving on to a new rider, in this case, the "validate" button before moving on to editing or creating a new rider. When you are ready, choose "file-create the cdb file", and then click on the officialrelease.cdb file if you want to actually overwrite the original database, or save it as something else. It takes a half minute to save. If you choose the second option, be sure to change the database file used in the game options so that your career game starts with the edited file. You can also edit a career game in progress, because the save file is the same name as whatever you named the save file, with a cdb file extension. Edit your save file the same way, but the location is "C:\Users\your user name\Documents\Pro Cycling Manager 2009\Database\Solo\your saved game name.cdb". Follow the same steps.
    Hope that helped.
