Hey, wassup everyone. I got this game and I believe I have the suitable rig to play it, I got Pentium Core 2 duo E4500 at 2.2GHz Nvidia MSI GeForce 250GTS 512 MB(DirectX ver 10 supoorted) 4 GB of RAM running at 667 MHZ INTEL G33BU classic board 1066MHz FSB Seagate HDD 360 GB sata II Windows XP SP 2 I have been able to play Crysis, GTA 4, Bioshock and some of the other newer games without a problem, there is no reason as to why this should not work for me. I was able to install the game, and start it as well but it runs sluggishly and lags a lot, very poor frame rate, I tried to low the video settings, however it did not help. I tried to play the game on Vista as well(32 bit), it did not even start. Please help, if there is any suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated.

1) This might be the certificate problem. Just update your game with Patch #3 to remove the certificate.
2) If you have already done that, there might be a problem with XLive. Do not try to disable XLive for this game.
3) Try applying a suitable game fix (Downloadeable from GameBurnWorld).
Life is best for those who enjoy it, difficult for those who analyze it and worst for those who criticize it.

First of all, thanks a lot for replying to my query HonestGamer. I really appreciate that, floored by your instant reply. I have done exactly what you told me. Updated the game with patch 3(didn't help), downloaded a fix from GameBurnworld (didn't help), the only thing I could not do though, was enabling or disabling XLive(to be honest, I do not know how, started the game, got into the menu; didn't see anything like it. Please tell me how it can be done. Actually, most of the time, menu was presented to me in Spanish, had a hard time changing the settings into English, did that once, however did not see any XLive settings. Also, if there is anything else that can be done to play the game. Please tell me. I have just played Fallout 3(High Settings) and Far Cry 2(again High graphic settings), it ran like a hot knife through butter. Please any comments would help.

I don't think patches would fix the lag. Your PC specs are more than perfect. I had maxed Far Cry 2 too. But when i did it for GOW. I had to face some sick loading problem. Which is solved after i reduced my Particle Effect to Medium.
Try that.! GOW has got a lot of bugs so don't start blaming your PC.

Thanks a lot Slick_R392, for replying to my query. You guys are really helpful; that is for sure. I have tried lowering the Graphics settings, not just Particle effects but everything, did not help. Also, I reduced the resolution to as low as 640X480 (every gamer's nightmare), guess what; it still lagged. I don't believe this, if I can play games such as Crysis, GTA 4 or Crysis Warhead(games that would bring any esteemed system down to its knees) with reasonable settings, this game should rock on my system. I guess it has something to do with the game itself; usually such issues are handled well by the fixes and patches, however it never worked for me. I just hope I would find a solution for this, I was really looking forward to kick some alien butt, guess it wasn't meant to be. If there is any other suggestion you guys have, it is more than welcome. Once again, thanks a lot

Owe!
I bet must be the games problem. Even happened to me with a game like NFS CARBON. I don't know how but it lagged though i had a good PC spec.
I hope you find your help all i can say is that must be the problem of the game you have.
Sorry!I don't have help from my side other than asking your vendor to chnage it for you

Greetings, i run vista 64 and had loads of probs. first if gears of war fails to start try changing date to 2007. this works for me, now for your problem, my pc should easily run game but was very slow and glitchy even after turning all settings down. it turned out a program called "Nero" has a thing called index search or some type of thing that runs in the background even when its not being used, i uninstalled all of nero and now the game runs easily. in your case it might be another program causing the problem, try pressing ctrl, alt, delete then task manager, goto processes and click memory(next to cpu) this will show any programs using a lot of memory. do this when running gears of war. if any look like they are using the same as gears then right click them and end process.then go back to game. good luck...sorry this is so long but im an old git, 40 .
im the best of the best, post any challenge and ill beat you too, come on beat the old git i dare you..........
