IT is a big improvement. I bought it and I am glad I did.

It's a good game, if half finished. They keep mucking around with the gameplay mechanics, there's a lot of crash to desktop bugs hidden there and since the 1.3 update (when they put in asyncronous sound), the sound on my system has been awful.
My advice, spend your money elsewhere - at least until they fix these stupid bugs. They should never have released the game in it's current form, and it's embarrassing that so metacritic and similar sites have given it such high scores.
When it works, it's good. Back in 1.2, I didn't crash out in the battle mode (only on the main campaign map modee), so it was quite fun. Since 1.3, it's just been no fun whatsoever.

with mods you can get it to a aceeptable level like Darth mod that made it a lot more fun the units arent zombies with weapons (so much) anymore

Hi,
There are many other strategy games out, this is prob the best in Epic battle protrayal with hot graphics (if your PC can handle it). Great game play (if you add mods, like Darth Mod) to enhance the AI from stupid to fun and massive army size. Nice addon options provided by the Modding community, such as additonal units (by adding mods like AUM) makes for more fun.
I personally stopped playing for few weeks, becuase the bugs were so bad, but the patches (at least for me) has fixed most of the issues.
Also, if you have SLI, I highly recommend going to Windows7 RC (free). My SLI actually works now!
