I still say that mp patches should be optional from steam.
Or better yet, Steam should be optional

Exactly, whose idea was it to associate this game with Steam?
The only time when I use Steam is when I play Left 4 Dead or Counter Strike Source online.

Ok, I've said this before and I'll say it again, you don't need Steam online to run the game. Most of you probably have DSL or Cable internet. Get up, unplug from the modem, and start the game. I guarantee it will start just fine. And if a new patch has come out, guess what, it won't update!
The newest patch seems to work just fine with the current trainer. But if you know there is a future patch coming out, or if you see it trying to update, just disconnect and run the game without the latest patch. At least until you know the trainer is compatible. It really isn't nuclear physics.

Go into STEAM, right click on the game you want, go to properties, updates, select box, move down to "DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE THIS GAME", click CLOSE
