nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX works just fine. Still a bit of an older card, so it's not a very high price these days. But why bother with an old card for a little less. Should upgrade to a new card that will last a lot longer. Invest in the future, as it were.

its possible, do you have the latest Nvidia drivers installed (in your case for the 7 series - 182.50 released 2nd April), and Direct X 9.0c (March 09), plus the last UT3 patch #5 (2.1).
if it still hangs then it maybe related to your system. do other games work ok, have you ever had UT3 working?

1 GB of RAM on a P4? What OS? I'd bump the RAM up first. Might also check your available hard drive space-once your drive is 50% full or higher, disk access slows down noticeably. Also try defragmenting your hard drive to improve access speeds. I doubt at this point that it's your video card. From what I've read here, UT3 will run on a wide range of video cards from the low end up to serious monsters. Does UT3 run in instant action mode? Or is it hanging when trying to load the game after you make your game type selection? It might not actually be hanging-might just be taking forever to load. I haven't run my PC on less than 4 GB of RAM since XP came out in '01, and I've seen some of my friends trying to run on 1 GB of RAM, and it is awful waiting for anything to happen on that little of RAM. Current rig Intel Wolfedale Core2Duo-3.0 GHZ overclocked to 3.6 GHz 8 GB Corsair DDR2 GeForce 275 w/896 MB memory Windows 7 RC (way better than Vista-as big a jump from Vista as XP was over Win98).
