I suppose, but it doesnt leave much room if you would liek to play a different way and not have everyone become your enemy and havta destroy them all. at this point the only nations that are very friendly to me are the native american tribes, and even that cost mucho denero. even nations I give land to either go to war with me or become hostile, and no matter how much bribing and gifting you do, it never gets better. then they just have tons of money to wage war against you.
But it is the only logical thing to happen.
If Russia decided to conquer Canada and Mexico--would you be happy to see them on your border?

no but after 30 or so years of absolutely nothing happening i will be able to cautiously open up diplomatic channels and commence trade.
the initial shock of seeing a few lands being taken and annexed to another country wears of after several years and the expansionism modifier does not reflect that at all.

I don't agree. Open trade with such an aggressive power will seldom be in ones best interest--they will easily flood your markets and subvert your control of your own economy. So, it would not be actively sought.
you have to pay nations off in gifts.
That's true.. if you use the trainer you can get 999,999 gold and can buy many gifts for ur enemies...
