why not have both, i think that they are different enough games mechanic wise to be seperate hence both.

They are both unique games. I would however say if you are to buy one, go for prototype. Otherwise rent both and see which you'd like to purchase.

As far as a polished graphical game inf is better proto has alot of people and stuff moving around but the city seems not to be put togather as well just kinda plain but both seem to be really good games in there own way.

I have played both they both are good,Infamous you can play as good and bad. Prototype is bloody and more violent, it is also made by the people who made hulk ultimate destruction. So you just have to chose which one sounds better or play both.

Asking this on either board is obviously going to have a slanted view from both boards for the respective games. Not to mention it opens the door to potential trolling.
