I bought the Special Forces edition from Play.com and was also given the Play.com exclusive "USS Constitution" special unit.
The only ones that I was missing was the death hussars (prussia) and dahomey amazons (dutch). Using that method I've got the whole lot now.
I havn't tried them online yet but I did start my own server to see if they was still in the list and they are. I don't know if they will crash the game if you play with someone. Its possible it might because the game files are "different". Used to be the same with RTW and M2TW. I will try it later unless someone else confirms. Still possible it will be perfectly fine online though.
Many thanks.

Do i need to start a new game since i dont understand why wouldn't i have the special units(i have 100% research)?!!??!

right click packfilemanager select rename and replace it with packfilemanger.exe open packfilemanager.exe and select file open mainpack should be in (drive)\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\data etc etc...make sure you save after you delete the file to save changes.
