Empire: Total War Message Board  

OK. My computer was infected and I just finished setting it up again. I'm running XP with SP3 on it. But every time I try to play Empire: Total War, it starts to load, but all I get is a white box. I've waited for 11 hours for it to run, but it still won't. Any suggestions on what the problem is and how to fix it? I REALLY want to play this game!!!!!!!

eeeeek, that sucks >_<. Im running xp SP3 too and everything works fine. are you sure your sys requirements are up to par? And since you had to reinstall windows, make sure you have the correct video drivers, and make sure they are the most up to date ones.

this is not good...
i got a another problem..
sometimes if i start the game, it takes about 10mins.
but i cant get into the start screen..
the game shuts down and it says to me that my video drivers aren't compatible to the game...
nix is not every time , but sometimes.
i hope they'll release a patch...
soon...

My sys is above the requirements. My computer is parctically new. I know it's not my graphics card, cause that runs COD4 as smooth as silk. I'll have to check on the video drivers, though.

you need to update EVERYTHING if you had to reformat your computer. check video drivers, soundrivers etc there is no reason you should be getting a white screen

For whatever reason, I noticed my speakers won't work. I'm a bit of a computer novice, and I had to have my Dad guide e through the reformating. So, with that said, give me the most up to date video driver, and I'll see if I have it. The speaker problem is interesting, though. And I'm letting Windows update itself whenever new updates are available. Would anybody running XP with SP3 mind walking me through it?

what card do you have?

Radeon HD 4670, assuming you meant graphics card.
