It is called Ozma.
First, find all of the friendly creatures and give them their items, this will allow you to attack Ozma with melee attacks and it will take damage from Shadow instead of it healing him.
A friend of mine told me Dead Peppers will do 9,999 damage to him each turn, I don't know if it is true though.
My strategy was to use Zidane, Amarant, Vivi and Quina, all of my characters had Auto reflect and absorbed Shadow (so they will absorb both Vivi's Dooms Day and Ozma's). Zidane's Theivory, Quana's Frog Drop and Amarant's No Mercy will all do 9999 damage all the time when their individual requirments are met (eg Thievery's power will go up every time you steal an item, Frog Drop is Quina's level multiplied by the number of frogs you have captured and I think Amarant's No Mercy is based on the number of enemies he has killed buy I'm not sure about that).
