RTS arent all repitive they have new buildings every mission new units and objectives so your all wrong.
Getting new buildings and units is like putting a new coat of paint on a mission, it only changes what you have at your disposal to get the job done. Objectives change with the mission but they always involve you blowing the enemy to hell, sometimes you only have to get to a certain location or defend yourself for a certain amount of time but to do that you always have to attack and defend. That always uses similar strategies, the only difference being that you replace weaker units with stronger ones as the game progresses. The strategies change very little along the way.
i liked this, although i got bored of it pretty fast. i AM a RTS fan too,... i play Age of Empires, Empire Earth, Age of Mythology, that kind of stuff, and i liked those! Halo Wars,... it just needs more content such as Scenario Editor and other stuff.
The thing about Halo Wars is that it was made for Halo fans, not RTS fans. It was purposefully made to be simple so people who have never played an RTS and love Halo could have fun with it. But people like you who play RTS's normally aren't as impressed because you want more.
Its an RTS... All you do is find,build,train,kill,win/die.
What did you expect, only people who are die hard RTS fans will like it.
As a general rule of thumb, RTS's for me are quite boring after a while.
Halo Wars is the exception. I could do the skirmish mode all day.
I would do the same thing.
