I know the game is a little bit old... but anyway...
The console key won't work as I am using a german keyboard layout. I tried to use 'TAB' instead and 'F12' of 192, but that didn't work either. has anyone an idea how to configure that key that my console will show up by pressing the right key?

thank you for your response. Just for the case anyone else is looking for that, on a german keyboard as console key=192 use 'ö' to bring up the console. that worked for me.
