in FO2, one could drive a car, are there any of those elements in the game, flying, drivning, riding horse/brahmin or sumthin?

Unfortunately vehicles aren't drivable in the game. The thought of even modding them to work isn't even that appealing to me since the map is littered with too many obstacles that would just get in the way of making any sort of driving fun.

However, the idea of modding in workable jetpacks is an interesting alternative. This would allow you to traverse the wasteland without the annoyances of getting around rocks and other debris since you'd be able to hover over and fly over it. It'd also be a faster way to travel across the map than running.

I'd be cool to limit them a bit by making them require a fuel source of some sort. I just don't know how a fuel source would work with it though. Should it have an infinite amount of power right away without requiring a fuel source or should it require a fuel that depletes over the time you use it? Maybe flamer fuel could be used to make it work? Or maybe an alien power cell or fission battery would be required for it to be used? Regardless, there would most likely only be 2 speeds available. Slow and fast. Just like you can choose to either walk or run.

It would be neat to see this modded into the game. Though, I doubt NPC characters will be able to use anything like this unless a mod team wanted to create a major mod for the game that included NPCs being able to use them. But I think it'd be neat even for just the player character to use them.

I hate fast traveling in this game since I feel that it takes away a lot of the fun out of the game. I feel like I am trying to survive in this horrible new world with all these nasty creatures that I need to either avoid or kill and when I fast travel I feel like I'm just cheating myself out of that survival horror aspect that's so enjoyable. However, with a jetpack, I'd still be exposed to danger since many of the enemies can fire weapons too. The only ones that wouldn't be able to get to me would be most of the creatures like radroaches, molerats, scorpions, and those creepy as hell - Feral Ghouls! Yikes! Those things are freaking creepy. They're fast as hell to and they seem to know how to flank you and come at you from all sides. Although most of those are found inside buildings and in the subways so a jetpack won't be very useful in those places. It would only work best outside. It might not even be modded to work inside buildings or subways. That would be a little much.

It would be neat if they could add a compartment to it that allowed you to store an additional 200lbs of weight. Perhaps if you leave the jetpack at one location and travel through the subway system and come out somewhere else, your jetpack could be called to you through a button added to the pipboy3000? That'd be neat instead of having to look all over for where you left your jetpack.

There are just so many possibilities and options that could be added to this game if the bloody developers would release the SDK. It would definitely help boost their sales of Fallout 3 and bring up the rating scores for the game. Some people are rating the game way below what it deserves based on the fact that it doesn't contain the SDK. That's hurting Bethesda's sales more than they know.

flying over obstacles may come with some other difficulties.
did you ever notice, that grayditch only has a single entrance?
and if so, did you ever noclip out the other end?
there is a large area with nothing in it.
i havn't tried, but i think the downtown washington area looks pretty much like it.
in addition to that, there are many places that are only reachable through subway tunnels and physicaly dont exist in the open planes of the rest of the wasteland.

besides those bigger problems, thers the aesthetic aspect.
since you arn't suppost to go flying, some of the larger buildings and constructions dont have a roof.
you can stand on them, but there are no textures.

if you want a complete jetpack mod, that doesn't feel wrong, you would have to add a bunch of textures to those buildings and prevent players from going where they arn't supposed to go.

sorry for crushing your dream, but i don't think it would be that good of an idea. ~=)
its so fast it can do an infinite loop in thirty seconds!! =)

I'd be happy with a jetpack mod, I'm not sure you'd get any clipping issues as long as you stayed within the map boundaries!

I love the idea of the motorbike, the ones that you sometimes see near Raiders are very, very cool looking. The only trouble is, as with the car idea, there's just far too much to crash into - unless the bike/car was slightly 'hover' enabled (it is the future afterall....) so it didn't smash into any ground based objects.

They wouldn't be able to implement that as many of the obstructions are fixed and do not move under force.
