Ok so im in the tunnels doing hte Greyditch quest. and guess what. theres 2 fire ants stood together one a little close than the other. the other one farther away is about 45 CM away from the other one. i use Alt-fire (ZOOM IN WITH WEAPON NOT VATS....) and i aim for the farthest ones head. and to my suprise the bullets from my gun MAGICALLY head in hte direction of the fire ant closest to me........ now i almost died because of this gay **ll **it. i mean what kinda game does this...... i shoot at a enemy I WANT TO HIT not magically fu****g target the one 50-45 cm away from it. this has me REALLY PEEVED. is there a console command to turn it off?. i used the help command but to my suprise i cant see s**t. so some help would be nice. if there isnt a way to turn it off then bethesda will have to deal with me and my 75 People friend list (yep 75/98 of my friends off steam --NO FALLOUT 3 WAS NOT PURCHASED ON STEAM-- said the auto aim killed the game 40%) any solutions are aprrecitaed. thanks in advance guys.

yep it can be a bit annoying, saved me a couple of misses with rifles but ****ed me off when i was aiming my shotgun between 2 charging ghouls so they both would stagger back, autoaim desided that shooting just one of them would be a better idea... needles to say i didnt agree So, yes.. if anybody knows a way to turn it off it would be nice. We are using mouse and keyboard after all, not clumsy controllers

Well the problem is that the shooting mechanics in Fallout 3 aren't quite the same as a typical FPS. For instance, whether or not your shot actually hits the target isn't always dependent upon where you aim. That means even if you're aiming for the head, whether or not you actually hit, even if you're close to the target is still governed by probabilities, just like in VATS mode. This means I've had instances where I'm right next to the enemy, aimed for the head, but managed to miss entirely essentially because of the math (i.e. I only have a probability of hitting the target, not a certainty as is the case with other FPS games). This is because Fallout 3 is still an RPG and like other RPG games, hits or misses are still governed by statistics not just by ballistics, which is why the shooting in the game, outside of VATS is a little disappointing.

My first char I had I was using my 10mm Pistol near the beginning of the game, when I went to the Super-Duper Mart, and was firing at a Raider that was charging me and just as he closed to melee range I watched as one of the bullets I fired at him passed thru his head harmlessly.
However I understood why, it's an RPG.. I failed a die roll, and the game was coded so that un-realistic bullet trajectories are less likely so the game didn't think it was appropriate for the bullet to come out of the barrel at a near-90-degree angle. And quite frankly, I think I'd rather watch a bullet clip thru an enemy than come flying wildly out at angles that are just not physically or physicsly possible.

oh, i didnt even know there were propabilities in non-vats firing, i just tought the early weapons were pretty inaccurate
well i guess i can live with that i just wish it would be better at shooting where i want to shoot not at the closest enemy.
