Am I the only one off because of the actresses they chose? Seriously, Less play on sexy girls.. more focus on the game.. all around it makes Red Alert 3 feel like it wasn't properly made but they threw in attractive women to keep our attention away from the flaws..
Red Alert 1 never needed excessive amounts of cleavage or legs shown to be popular!
I'm not sure Red Alert 2 had very much of either either.

If I wanted to watch hot women I would look at my girlfriend, use the Internet, or watch a college flick.

We all know what your trying to do.

You see the commercial featuring Natasha and Tanya and whatever the Japanese one is called and you think, oh wow, they look nice, and it gets you interested in the game. Not only does it feel like your hiding something and using stereotypical sexual thoughts (this applies mainly to male gamers) hide the games flaws, but it makes the game feel like a cheap piece of crap which could of used more work on the actual game play then sexy pictures of the actresses.

for the actual Game play, there is too much Rock-paper-scissors at play for my taste.

    think of it like this.
Your out on the field of battle, a helicopter closes in, do you:

    A) just stand there getting shredded by gunfire?
    or
    B) shoot back with everything you got even though it wont do much good?

I seriously doubt anybody would pick A, given.. that you usually don't get a chance if your on the ground in the open and a enemy helicopter sees you. but i think you get the picture. just because your weapon wouldn't be very effective, it doesn't mean you would not try.

and as for balance.. Infantry Vs. Tanks would mean the tanks in 99% of the time come out on top. pretty much regardless of the number of infantry (given that they do not have anti-tank weaponry) In Red Alert 3, as far as I've noticed, you can just build up a massive amount of any one cheap unit and it would win vs. any other unit as long as said units can fire upon each other.

But Enough ranting, this thread was more or less about the use of sex to sell more copies of Red Alert 3, and it kind of me off that EA would sink that low.. although.. EA is already WAY down there on my list.

You are stressing out too much. Isn't all Command and Conquer RTS series are pretty much like that (not only RA 3)?
I think it is kind of refreshing to see some pretty girls in your gameplay/cutscreen, unless you enjoy seeing ghouls, zombies, mutants, crazy alien abominations, and ugly girls/guys all the time ( no flame intended, just saying).
RA series usually will be good after you play it for a while. So relax, if you dislike it that much, play some other games , there is no shortage of great games comming out the rest of the year.

I see nothing wrong with pretty girls.. what I do see something wrong with using girls that look like they are more plastic than they are flesh, and they dress them in outfits that look like they wouldn't fit a Barbie doll..

Nothing wrong with pretty girls in games, just not emphesising their looks by dressing them like that..

Where would you find a woman like Natasha dressed in a tight leather outfit that barely goes below her waist and a zipper pulled down pretty much past her breasts in ANY sort of combat zone, Or Command post for that matter. Now, I never served in any sort of military..
But I'm fairly sure the dress code applies to women as well no? all the guys in the cut scenes have uniforms on like you would expect (except the Japanese as far as I've seen, yet their woman is dressed in a dress that looks like a typical Japanese outfit.. Yet is So small it shows ever part of her body and as much of her body as they can without actually getting a sexual material rating from ESRB.)

I'm sorry if my initial post was misleading, I largely prefer my games to include females.. but when they do they need to abide by the same damn dress code as the guys!

    take this picture for example;

Now as far as I know, that is not standard military garments..

no problem what so ever with the chicks lol.

Balance however in this game sucks. turrets that take 30-40 takes to destroy because they can take out 1 tank every 5 seconds and your tanks do only 2% damage.

helicopters that can take out almost anything in under 30 seconds and seem to not even get hurt by anti-air defenses.

    Way to many balance problems.

yeah, Helicopters in real life are pretty fragile actually.
a few well placed AP rounds and its going down.

you can't have too much armor on a helicopter or it can't take off nor will it be very maneuverable..

Given that RA3 doesn't really depict real world military assets..
But they still should abide by the rules of physics and gravity.

As for right now, im waiting on Link

Red alert 3 was a serious disappointment, as I should have expected from EA.
Since Battlefield 2 its all been downhill with them, at least for me.

Dispite what you guys think this post was expressing my opinion that even women in video games should abide by the same dress code as the men..

I'm sure as hell glad we don't see any guys in the same outfit as Natasha..

well, one thing that could go a long way in explaining it is ra2,tiberian sun, ra and the original cnc were not made by ea at all. they were made by westwood studios which, if i remember right, is much like maxis in that it was a separate entity from ea, yet still the same company...🤔 or something like that. ea cannibalized westwood shortly after ra2 and yuri's revenge were finished.

westwood studios: relatively small gaming company without strong "name recognition" to pull mainstream actors, but with rock solid programming talent and really cared about the quality of the games they released.

ea games: multibillion dollar corporation with powerful name recognition to pull mainstream actors, but with increasingly questionable programming talent and could apparently care less about game quality so long as they sell alot of them.

    here is another snippet:
the yuri's revenge expansion for ra2.
    initial release version: 1.0
final version: 1.001 (thats right only one patch and it was done)

ra3 has been out less than a handful of days and has already been patched twice?? pitiful

Thats true, I forgot that the earlier titles were developed by Westwood, not EA.. but still what I said holds true.

Red Alert 1 didn't need hot girls in next to no clothing to be popular.. sure they had it..
but it feels like EA put more effort into shoving those actresses in your face than they put into the actual game..

Look at Natasha in the field..
it looks like shes wearing a frigin bikini! at least that's what it looks like for me.. admittedly i couldn't stand it anymore after about an hour of play so i quit and uninstalled it.
It may be welcome back in the future when patches are released to fix.. Hell ADD balancing to the game.

    until then.
    You EA!

Man calm down and get over it.... It's just a video game... Its their problem if they want to spend money on making videos with somewhat revealing and appealing videos/wallpapers for the game.

If you don't like it go start a game company and do the complete opposite of what they did.

If anyone feels that something like sells then you know for a fact they will do it. How do you think they make so much money on some movies, its just because what they put in the previews or other things.

If they could find a way to do this in everything the world sells they would, just to see if they can earn an extra dollar or two.
