Somehow this game seems to be buggy enough with or without that. Hopefully they release a patch soon to fix the current instability.

When I used your trainer with the game's original version (of course both were v1.0), all worked well. But since I've updated the game to version 1.0.0.15, activating the trainer causes the game to crash the moment I load a save game (any of my saves).

BTW, this also happens when I start a new game.
Of course, I have tried renaming "fallout3.exe.cat" to "fallout3.exe.cat_bak", and rebooted my computer.
Does it matter whether I run the game directly from fallout3.exe or from the original shortcut?

I had that problem when I accidently downloaded the direct2drive trainer, instead of the retail/steam trainer (I have the steam version)

I may have a solution,

When i updated to v1.0.0.15 and used the new trainer for such, I kept crashing as well. One day I fired the game up and pressed F1 at the title screen and left to go get something to eat. When I came back it had crashed with the error message but the game was still active, so i just alt tabed back and it worked fine. If I loaded my game before it crashed then within a couple seconds it crashed completely.

Case in point:

Activate the trainer at the title screen and then let it sit for about 60 sec. (give or take) then when it gives you the error your game should still be active, at which point you can simply alt tab back to your game and the trainer will work just fine.

This works for me every time!

I have the retail version....

have retail version got it updated to last patch n run the trainer with f1 at menu but get error message directly no game running at that point btw would be a weird idea but just deleting this security file could that help?
